Carrie Underwood Courts Controversy With 'Cowboy'

Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood's 'Cowboy Casanova' has been country music's fastest-selling single of 2009 -- and Carrie's fastest-selling of her career. Unfortunately, it's just as quickly becoming embroiled in controversy. According to Perez Hilton (via Nashville Gab), an unsigned artist named Brittany McDonald met with one of Carrie's co-writers -- unidentified in the story -- who heard a song by Brittany called 'Bang' and "loved" it.

"The meeting took place well before Carrie's new single, 'Cowboy Casanova,' was written and recorded and now there is suspicion that the Idol alum's latest single is in fact plagiarized from McDonald!," sez Perez. The accusation was first uncovered on the website for a company called Crazed Hits, which represents unsigned acts. The site refers to McDonald as a "unsigned and unpublished Crazed Hits artist," and says the alleged meeting took place last December.

The co-writers of 'Cowboy Casanova' are Brett James (a Grammy winner for co-writing 'Jesus Take the Wheel') and producer Mike Elizondo, who has worked with Eminem, Fiona Apple and Pink, among others. No legal action against Carrie and her co-writers is being reported at this time.

Carrie is a great singer & performer. When she first came onto the scene, I didn't pay much attention to her, mostly due to her connection to the "American Idol" show. My initial reaction was sort of "great, another hottie who probably can't sing a lick". She is so much more than that...I love her songs.

They do sound alike in the music in the background. Lyrics are totally different. But these days everyone's using everyone's material. It just matters who does it better. Carrie Underwood is better :)

Who cares what Perez thnks or says?? He is nothing short of a media attention pain in the butt. No talent whiner!
Carrie is a talent that he will never be! The two songs are nothing alike. Carrie has the best version and it is what it is. Someone is always going to come from somewhere to grab whatever little spotlight they may. Someone should just tell Perez to craw back into his little hole and let Carrie shine like the star she is!

Why does anyone listen to anything Perez Hilton says.
He is a nobody with no talent and possibly the biggest idiot there is. How can someone judge you when that person has no talent himself?
The songs may sound similar to some. But that does not mean anything. Writers often have similar sounds because of things that influence them.
Back to Perez Hilton. Shove him back under the rock he crawled out from under. When he talks he does so without inteligence. Pay him no mind. He just whines because he knows he is a no talent loser and this is the only way he can get attention.
As for Carrie. I am not a country fan but she does have a great voice. And she is not bad to look at either.
