Carrie Underwood's 'Cowboy Casanova' has been country music's fastest-selling single of 2009 -- and Carrie's fastest-selling of her career. Unfortunately, it's just as quickly becoming embroiled in controversy. According to Perez Hilton (via Nashville Gab), an unsigned artist named Brittany McDonald met with one of Carrie's co-writers -- unidentified in the story -- who heard a song by Brittany called 'Bang' and "loved" it."The meeting took place well before Carrie's new single, 'Cowboy Casanova,' was written and recorded and now there is suspicion that the Idol alum's latest single is in fact plagiarized from McDonald!," sez Perez. The accusation was first uncovered on the website for a company called Crazed Hits, which represents unsigned acts. The site refers to McDonald as a "unsigned and unpublished Crazed Hits artist," and says the alleged meeting took place last December.
The co-writers of 'Cowboy Casanova' are Brett James (a Grammy winner for co-writing 'Jesus Take the Wheel') and producer Mike Elizondo, who has worked with Eminem, Fiona Apple and Pink, among others. No legal action against Carrie and her co-writers is being reported at this time.
Listen to the two songs to judge for yourself here.

Does anyone ever trust a word Perez Hilton says?

NO and I would have a hard time believing anything from him even if I saw it myself. And after listening to both songs there is nothing similar between the two other than maybe a few beats. It sounds to me like a no name unknown can't stand Carrie's fame and is trying for an easy buck or two. Just the thought of Carrie stealing or having to steal someone elses song is asinine.

Perez Hilton is a no talent, jealous, trouble making douchebag! Why would anyone consider anything he says to be relevant?

I have been a huge Carrie fan from the start, and I pride myself the ability to be fair and unbiased. I have listened to both songs, there is "some" similarities in the tempo of the chorus ONLY. However when I listend to the "Bang" song it sounded more like a song Pink would record, not at all country. Carrie's song has a much better presentation and beat. I'm sorry Brittany but you are beginning to look like just another sue happy individual who is out to make a name for herself and I will not lower myself to purchase any recordings from you or anyone who likes to persue such matters without just cause. There is no case.

Yes, I do agree. Close, but not enough to call copyright infringement.
How many TV shows are done so close it seems they are cloned and no one brings that up?
