Ronnie Milsap Turns Up the Volume During Protest

Ronnie MilsapRonnie Milsap visited Capitol Records Thursday (Oct. 1), but it wasn't exactly a social call. The legendary singer was there to continue his protest against the label for the legal action taken regarding his single, 'My First Ride,' recorded with Capitol artist Trace Adkins.

Ronnie reportedly circled the label's parking lot in a "Mayberry-type old school police car ... complete with bullhorn and speakers," according to MusicCityTV. He was shouting, singing and yelling as a handful of protesters picketed on the sidewalk.

The singer is upset that the label is attempting to block his single from receiving airplay at country radio. Ronnie is now recording for independent Bleve Records, which has pledged proceeds from the single and Ronnie's upcoming album to relief funds for police and firefighters involved in disasters, such as 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina.

Asked about his persistence regarding the issue, Ronnie said, "Ha ha ha! That's for sure. I've always been. I'm a Capricorn, so I just keep climbing the hill."

Capitol and Trace have made no public comment regarding the ongoing controversy.
