Garth Brooks Coming Out of Retirement

Garth Brooks is back! The best-selling artist in the history of country music made the announcement at a press conference this morning at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House.

"It's a proud day for me and my family to announce [the news]," Garth was quoted as saying. "We're going to take the retirement roof off over our head."

Garth, who is married to fellow country star Trisha Yearwood, says the decision will not change much of his lifestyle for the next five years - until his youngest daughter, 13-year-old Allie Colleen, turns 18. He went on to say this move would allow him "to just go do whatever I want, and not have to worry about who I'm disappointing or what rules I'm sticking to."

After the Nashville press conference, Garth headed to Las Vegas to make an announcement about a series of shows he'll be doing there. A live webcast of the press conference will be shown at wynnlasvegas.com and encorelasvegas.com.

Garth added that he has no immediate plans for recording or touring -- saying only that he would leave those possibilities open.

"What people are going to expect from us is 110 miles an hour tomorrow, and the truth is, if we ever do tour again, if we ever do make new music again, it's still going to be another five years," he says.

The Boot will have further details as they become available.

Garth,

Do us a favor will ya? Either perform or stay retired - the revolving door is getting very VERY old and face it - you are only doing this revolving door so you can rape your fans by charging highway robbery for the tickets and guaranteeing each show will be sold out.

So either shi* or get off the pot - I am tired of seeing all the times you come out of retirement just to go back into it again!!

Where have the really hot country singer gone. The industry died. I hope there is a real revival and bring country music back strong. Like when John, Willie, Waylon, Hank and the boys were around. They stayed the course because they were lifetime artists, and were loyal to there fans for life. Thats when country rocked. They were committed to their craft and their fans. I miss all the male and female artists.

The Garth Brooks that my honey and I went to almost 23 years ago in Tacoma, WA, was the finest thing we have ever seen, and my honey isn't into country music. He stood up and got excited at everything that Garth did - truly - and my honey is a big rock n' roll guy. When I told him that Garth was coming back - he said, sweet love, let me know where the closest concert is to be our area; I'll buy th tickers!! His show blasted me and I'd like to be there again.!!!! From a truly Rock n Roller - I gave him a BIG smile!! He said get the tickets and we'll "roll" with Garth.

Garth you do NOT have to tour. Just do what you did in your farewell performances and get them televised. Then we ALL can enjoy you and you can be right at home with your daughters!
