When Josh Turner broke into the country music scene in 2003 with 'Long Black Train,' the newcomer was the talk of the town. He was touring the country non-stop and turned heads with his good looks and deep baritone voice. But his newfound success wasn't all fun and games. Josh's hectic schedule was taking its toll on the singer, both mentally and medically."My first full year of touring, I did 300 days on the road. That was not including the travel time or publicity or anything else -- that was just dates. I was home probably less than 50 days that year," Josh, who turns 31 next month, tells GAC. "I started having heart problems and was going to the doctor with inflammation in my gut. It was taking a toll on me physically and emotionally. I had a lot of stuff going on business wise that shouldn't have been going on. It was stuff like that that stressed me out. I had to make some hard decisions, and I had to clean house. I fired everybody who was working for me at the time. I was like, 'Alright, I've got to start over and do what's right.' I just started off on the wrong foot."
Josh's new single, 'Why Don't We Just Dance,' is currently climbing the charts. It's a feel-good song that mirrors his new, carefree attitude.
"Now, I try to live a stress-free life," he says.

I am a huge Loretta Lynn fan and ever since I was ten years old, I have been following and supporting her career by being in the audience when ever her show was in a reasonable proximity. Her road schedule was more than most entertainers could handle but somehow she managed to get to these venues and perform for her enduring legion of fans. Then she would spend hours signing autographs, etc. before returning to the stage for a second show. In fact this icon still tours like she has been doing for the past four and a half decades. This grind surely has an effect on anyone

As young as you are Josh, you're a wise man and made the right choices in your life. I curtsy to you for seeing the problems early ... some wait so long to recognize it or never see it at all. You have to look out for #1. I enjoy your music ... thank you!!

No offense, Josh, you are one of my favorite singers of all time, but you need to fire whoever sold you on this new look of yours. You are not a teenager! The clean-cut image looked totally comfortable on you. This scruffy look just looks posed. Shave, put on a suit, and get rid of that stupid haircut. You'll look like yourself again, a very handsome man.

The scruffy, unshaven appearance does not fit you at all. It looks totally posed. Shave, put on a suit, and get rid of that ridiculous haircut. You will look like yourself again, a very handsome man.

Nice move, I'm sure the families of those you fired will have a wonderful holiday season. They did bust their asses for you for most of the year! And were away from home as well.

Hey Josh, good for you! Live everyday for yourself, and sing when you want to. Enjoy your life while you can, see the world and take adventures you will never forget, write songs on the way and record them when you're old!
