Montgomery Gentry's Eddie Montgomery can't help but relate his own childhood to the duo's current single, 'Long Line of Losers,' which celebrates a colorful family tree that's "half outlaw, half boozers."

"I really was raised with a shot glass in my hand," Eddie tells GAC. "I ain't gonna lie about it. You know, everybody's like, 'Well, I don't know if I'd talk about it.' Hell, it does not bother me at all. You know, it never has. [Although] now I do know as an adult why none of the other parents would ever let kids come over to our house."

When Eddie and his brother [and fellow country artist] John Michael Montgomery were growing up, their parents played music on weekends. Where most living rooms had chairs and sofas, Eddie recalls theirs had amplifiers and drum kits - and was, as Eddie's musical partner, Troy Gentry calls it, "party central -- a playground for some of the adults in the neighborhood."

"We had all music equipment in the living room," says Eddies. "When Mom and Dad wasn't playin' in a nightclub -- hell, they were playin' at home. And hell, everybody was over at our house. So, you know, that's why, I was like ... 'I wonder how come no kids are allowed to come to our house?'"

Eddie and Troy have since found plenty of other places to play -- including the Grand Ole Opry, where they were inducted as members this past June. The pair are nominated for CMA Vocal Duo for the 11th year in a row.
