Bucky Covington will play both celebrity and fan this Saturday (Oct. 24), as he headlines the Comcast Concert Series Post-Race show after the NASCAR race at Memphis Motorsports Park. The 'American Idol' alum says his two favorite things are country music and cars."I'm from Rockingham [North Carolina], which is a NASCAR town," Bucky tells The Boot. "It's very cool audience to be playing to ... If you go to a NASCAR race, there are country music fans. Not to mention NASCAR originated in the southeast and a lot of drivers are country folks, so that links it in."
So who is Bucky's favorite NASCAR driver?
"Whoever I've got money on!" he jokes. "I've gotten to meet some of the drivers and have become pretty good friends with Elliott Sadler. I really like that guy."
Bucky's free show starts immediately after Saturday's race. He plans to play both old hits and new songs from his upcoming sophomore album, 'I'm Alright,' which will be released in spring 2010.
