Steve Martin has been added to the list of performers at MerleFest 2010. He'll join the Steep Canyon Rangers on stage at the prestigious music festival to be held April 29-May 2 on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, N.C. Tickets for MerleFest go on sale Nov. 10.This will mark the 23rd year for MerleFest, named for the late Merle Watson, son of guitar legend Doc Watson, who hosts the event each year. Doc uses the term "traditional-plus" to describe the eclectic mix of musicians who gather at the four-day festival. The 2010 lineup will also include Elvis Costello, Sam Bush, Little Feat, Dailey & Vincent, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, Avett Brothers, and many others.
Festival Director Ted Hagaman says, "Fans can count on more surprises, spontaneous jam sessions and one-of-a-kind musical collaborations, and we will continue to add to this line up. We encourage MerleFest fans to keep checking our website www.merlefest.org for updates."
During this year, Steve Martin has been touring the country with his banjo, playing music from his acclaimed album, 'The Crow.'
