As a songwriter, Keith Urban says that his art sometimes puts him in a precarious situation which can often become a double-edged sword when he's trying to create music from the heart."On one hand, I want to keep my life private," Keith tells GAC, "but on the other hand, I write and create music, so I don't want to stifle that process in maintaining privacy at the expense of a free-formed expression in the art and in the music."
Overall, Keith says that he stays within his comfort zone when writing songs for his albums. "Obviously I write about the things that I am comfortable writing about," he explains. "They are not so sacred that I can't write about them."
Keith's songwriting has scored him some major points over the past year, including once again being nominated in the Album of the Year category at Wednesday night's CMA Awards, for 'Defying Gravity.' He's also up for four more honors, including Male Vocalist, Musical Event and Music Video (for 'Start a Band' with Brad Paisley), and Entertainer of the Year.
Keith's also up for Favorite Male Vocalist in the country category at the American Music Awards on Nov. 22, competing against Darius Rucker and Jason Aldean.
