Taylor Swift Leads the Country Crop in People's Choice Nods

Taylor SwiftThe People's Choice Awards nominations were announced Tuesday and Taylor Swift received nods in three categories. She, along with Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban are up for Favorite Country Artist. Taylor and Carrie also received nominations in the overall Favorite Female Artist category with Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Pink. Taylor also is featured in the Favorite Pop Artist group, alongside the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, Britney and pal Katy Perry. Keith and Tim McGraw are up against Eminem, Jason Mraz and John Mayer in the overall Favorite Male Artist category.

The People's Choice Awards will be handed out Jan. 6 on CBS. Read the full list of nominees here.

Sound like lots of the big jealous people I’m in my 40’s have love country music sense I was little .She got what lots wish they had and to do all she dose and write her own song and to sing. Not even all the older Singer Can do all that . Let alone a clean cut girl that’s down to earth, that our kid and grand kids can relate to and look up too..!!! Don’t See anyone else doing all she can do ..So you go girl , You make me proud of you and Country Music

connie: There's a lot of awesome country singers that write and sing their own songs (or write for other singers). This is just a part of the genre and certainly not exclusive to Taylor Swift. I agree she is great role model but she still can't sing. It appears that vocal talent is not a requirement in the People's Choice or Grammy Awards.

George Jones sure made a fuss about her country voice..!!!..Soooo refreshing to hear a beautiful country singer without that -TWANG- or speach voice that sounds like a mouth full of food and you wonder what they said..!!!..Alot of country need voice lessons to calm the TwanG..!!!!....

I can't see how she qualifies as a Country singer. She sounds just like Brittany and all the rest. No Country in her.

I do NOT see (or HEAR) what all the hype is about re: Taylor Swift. She's just one more famous singer who really doesn't have all that good of a voice. She's surely another example of the fact that, in this world, it's not what you know (or can do), it's WHO you know (or who you DO!).

WoW...that was harsh..!!!...Not everyone who is beautiful and does have a pretty voice-certaintly does not have to DO anyone to be a winner..!!!..The truth is..she is beautiful and talented..happy to see something special singing again,,,especially in COUNTRY..!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Taylor is a little young to be part of the doing anyone, but I have to agree that she sounds way off key in person and has a very average voice. It is clear but that is about it. She has no range at all. She just happens to be a teen who can strum a guitar and writes lyrics that all of the teenagers love, as they can relate to them. And we all know how the teenagers can make a star out of anyone. They buy the records, keep the twitters going and vote for people's choice awards. Taylor in no way compares to the other young country vocalists (Carrie, Kelly,etc.) I do not believe she deserves awards for anything other than record sales.
