Taylor Swift has been crowned CMA Entertainer of the Year, making her the youngest artist ever to take home the evening's highest honor."I will never forget this moment," a very emotional Taylor said, "because in this moment, everything I ever wanted has just happened to me." Inviting her entire band to join her on stage, she tearfully continued, "Thank you for this moment. Thank you. Every single person in that category let me open up for them ... thank you. I love you all."
Taylor also won Album of the Year and Female Vocalist. She's the first female to win the trophy in the Entertainer category since Shania Twain won in 1999.

Yay, Taylor!!! I've been to her sold-out concert, and she's truly entertaining and spunky :) She deserves this award :)

Maybe she does entertain - but she should not be classified as a country singer - my opinion she does not sing - she talks her words - her songs do not have a country sound, her actions while performing are not country - the opening for the CMA's was terrible - throwing a chair, prancing around, throwing her hair around. Would love to hear what the true blue country stars really think of her. Country is not her style - she should cross over to pop/rock/ what ever and stay there.

She CANNOT sing--her albums have been doctored and when you hear her live you understand that she IS NEVER ON PITCH THROUGH AN ENTIRE SONG!!! THE TRUE SINGERS LIKE MARTINA, REBA, FAITH, LEEANN, HAVE TO BE SIMPLY SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
raidersfanlinat 11-12-2009
amen..she should be singing on radio Disney, whats next Miley Cyrus next year. Entertainers Like Reba, Brooks and Dunne and Martina are the foundation of what COUNTRY music is about. I am glad i chose to watch Law and Order SVU instead.

They must have 12-year-olds voting. No way is she the best "vocalist"--she was off-key and out of breath--that's better than Martina? Reba? Even Carrie? Please. And best entertainer? Have they seen one of Brad Paisley's fantastic shows? What a joke that production was last night. I tuned in to see Vince Gill and the other genuine musicians, but turned it off in disgust after they were finished.

She is entertaining. Ok. But, I've been shaking my head for years now regarding the awards she's received. Come on. Simon Cowell would tear her apart. He'd be laughing at her supposed singing. Listening to her live hurts my ears. She must know that she cannot sing. She Must. Cannot figure how Miranda Lambert gets passed by...

Oh please you are all just jealous. Taylor Swift is the best singer ever and she is the best thing that has happened to country music... and for your information i am not 12 years old and those awards, stupid, are not fan voted... wow dont you feel stupid... oh and no one likes Miranda Lambert so get over it...

I am a Taylor Swift fan. HOWEVER, I do not feel that Female Vocalist of the Year was deserved. In comparison to the other ladies in this category, Taylor's vocal ability is last on the list. Tonight's live performances speak for themselves. She puts on a great show, but vocally, the honor should have gone to a more deserving artist.

I personally am a fan of Taylor Swift and I do not fit into the 19 and under category. I admire her story telling and songwriting skills. Her voice is beautiful. However, I recognize that we all have our own tastes. Some things to consider though.
1. Country music is widely defined as "popular (as in pop) music based on the traditions of the rural south that express strong emotions. Musicians in this category usually play the fiddle or the guitar. Taylor's music is popular, she is from the rural south. Her songs express a great deal of emotion and she plays the guitar. Plus one of her band mates plays the fiddle. Her songs (although popular with 9-19 year olds) express a great deal more insight than bubble gum pop music. For example, "The Best Days" (family support) and "Love Story" (a historical love story). This is noted in light of those who compared her to Britney Spears and bubble gum pop music.
2. Most country artists are considered crossover artists these days, including Carrie Underwood (who Taylor competeted against) who was on American Idol.
3. All the awards Taylor won her awarded to her by the Country Music Association (CMA) which is comprised of professional in that field, such as Reba and George Strait. Her colleagues and mentors picked her based on viewing her music as country genre and her as an amazing performer.
4. She has sold more records (Fearless ) than any artists except Michael Jackson. But please don't misconstrue populaity with pop music.
5. Her popularity has helped to draw many people into country music. Yes, she is a crossover. However, country music is also evolving as do all musical genres over time. George Strait country differs from kenny Chesney. George Strait country also differs from Hank Williams.
6. She is a great entertainer and a hard worker. The CMA decided to recognize her accomplishments this years. Yes, she was an opening act, but all artists usually start out that way.

My 13 year old and I camped out on the living room floor so she could watch Taylor. Was hard for her to fall asleep last night and even harder to wake up this morning. Congratulations Taylor, and Thank You for being such a good influence on my daughter. We love you. Gabbrielle and Judy

She is a gifted lyricist - not a singer. She sings off-pitch (like Gary from Rascal Flatts). She's so gorgeous and full of energy that she gets away with it. The whole CD has to be edited. How do you win over Martina McBride and Carrie Underwood, et al, who never miss a note? I don't get it...
