Chuck Wicks Addresses Rumored Breakup With Julianne Hough

Chuck Wicks and Julianne HoughJust one day after Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough were rumored to have broken up, they appeared at the CMA Awards together, holding hands. But in spite of the show of solidarity, rumors continue to swirl that the pair may have called it quits, fueled partly by comments by Julianne's own brother, Derek Hough.

"All I know is that Julianne has been incredibly, incredibly busy," Derek tells PEOPLE. "She is doing such a great job right now, but she really is in a different place every time that I talk to her."

Julianne was noticeably absent from the red carpet, where Chuck was busy acting as host for 'Entertainment Tonight.' He did take time out from his duties, however, to acknowledge the difficult time the pair are having, but remained tight-lipped on whether he was back on the market or not. "Julianne and I are going to address what's going on in our personal life together," he told ET. "I think that's the only right way to do it and we'll make a statement on that ... Julianne is actually my date tonight, so it's all good. We're going to have a good time and we will address it together, but right now we're going to have a lot of fun," he said.

Julianne will certainly have enough to keep her occupied in the next few months. The singer and dancer is adding actress to her resume, appearing opposite Christina Aguilera, Cher and Kristen Bell in the movie 'Burlesque,' as well as starring opposite Chace Crawford in the remake of the hit '80s movie, 'Footloose.' Meanwhile, Chuck is back in the studio, working on his sophomore album.

The award shows are all about industry politics and money. An example that supports this is the Zac Brown Band. Now that they have been embraced by the public, "Toes" gets played with the original lyrics on most stations. The classic stars LIVED their songs, today's wannabes are all about making videos and confusing fantasy with reality. I do like some of the newer artists, but with few exceptions I get the feeling they get as far away from jeans and boots as possible when they are not actually appearing. Carrie's appearance on David Letterman is a good example of that, playing to the liberal yuppie audience. For this group- talented, yes- beautiful, yes. COUNTRY- no way!

I am so glad to hear that someone else KNOWS this girl CAN"T sing. The other singers she won over should be really upset with the CMA'S. Taylor Swift should not even be in the "country" category. Like someone else said before, she should be singing on Radio Disney. It is only the Tweens that are buying her CD's and going to her concerts. I know I will NEVER buy a CD or go to a concert of hers.

The article is about Julianne. I was wondering what happened to the two-some. I never saw them together. I hope they don't break up, I was hoping they would do a song together! Great chemestry. As far as Taylor (to follow suit), she never had her own tour, she opened for the other "sold-out" concerts, as she acknowledged. I don't get this infatuation with her. She cannot sing, she gasps for air mid-song, and I can't stand when she flops her head around. Not saying she can't write, she is creative, especially if you are a 15 year old fan. She did not belong in the EoY catagory ... I guess we can thank Kanye for that!

I totally agree that Taylor Swift can not sing. All of her songs have the same tune. With all of the talent she was up against , she should not have won, I was so very disappointed in her wins. It was good enough that she was nominated. She should not have been choosen.

It's great to talk about Taylor Swift, but you do realize that the article is about Chuck Wicks and Julian Hough, right? Taylor wasn't even mentioned in the article!

I have to agree with lots of people about the comments about Taylor. She is a sweet girl, but a singer, not. Every songs she sings is just like the next song she sings and she mostly talks. I think it is a sin and disgrace to even put her in the same catagory as George Strait. My gosh! In fact, I think the whole show was an entire farce. Billy Currington should have won. The only person that won anything that is out of the "click" of the mainstream is Jamey Johnson. And soon he will labeled an outlaw. After All, he is. We need to hear some good music on COUNTRY STATIONS, like Rosanne Cash, Rodney Crowell, Dwight Youkam, Robert Earl Keen, Charlie Robison, and I could go on. Let protest the B/S of Nashville!

I agree, her voice isn't that great. But I love some of her songs. The thing that bothers me is that her songs really aren't country. They are pop. Why does she get so much recognition in the CMA's???

I didn't see anyone "hating" on Taylor. They are simply stating their opinion. Judging by the comments here I would say there are a lot of mature true country music fans who agree that (1) Taylor honestly cannot sing; (2) Taylor is not country; and (3) she is a good songwriter. Move her over to the genre that Britney and Christina are in. She'd at least be in the correct genre even though it wouldn't change the fact that she can't sing.
