George Jones Ready to Move Forward After Controversy

George Jones, Carrie UnderwoodLast week, media outlets swarmed with news about a quote country legend George Jones stated to the Associated Press that some of country music's biggest stars, including Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, "had to use something that was established already, and that's traditional country music" to reach the level they are at now. George went on to praise some of the more traditional artists still making music, including Alan Jackson and George Strait. When celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton caught wind of the quote, he blew it out of context, which deeply bothered George.

Monday night in Nashville, many artists gathered at Dolly Parton's CD/DVD release party, where both George and Carrie attended. According to Nashville's Tennessean newspaper, George was all set to explain himself to Carrie, but she told him she never thought he was criticizing her in the first place. George admitted he was worried because his comments came across as a direct criticism of both Taylor and Carrie. "I don't want anyone to think I'm against anybody," George said.

After clearing the air, George and Carrie posed together for photographers and chatted while watching the Dolly DVD. Carrie even sat on the arm of George's chair at the intimate gathering.

George recently released his collection of hits and three new tunes on his exclusive Cracker Barrel album, 'A Collection of My Best Recollection.' George told The Boot this week to expect new music in the very new future which he promises will be "a very talked about album [filled with] the best work I've done it quite a few years!"

sorry folks meant to say He "sang"....anyway , If you want to talk about so-called original country you have to go back to Uncle Dave Macon in the 1930's....so I am sorry to all you folks who think only the hand full of people you know and like, are the ONLY country artists. Waylon and Willie, Do you consider them country? I do, and they left Nashville, because of the same crap and hoopla folks are raising about folks like Taylor Swift. They went to Texas where they could Record in peace. and by the way their album "outlaws" became the first PLATINUM country album. Hank Jr. left for Cullman Alabama for a while to record for similar reasons......was he not country?? I remember back in the 80's when the group ALABAMA, was on top, many of the old timers had nothing much good to say about them either.....it happens every few decades I guess.

My Goodness what a bunch of close-minded people, how about JOHNNY CASH! he sand and hung out with Rock and Roll singers even Bob Dylan, and had some "pop" hits played on the Radio. One of his last Recordings was a Cover of a Nine Inch Nails song called Hurt. So I ask you ....Is he Country?? Perhaps you have never heard Hank Jr.'s song Young Country....

This is the last year we will watch the CMA'S.
I have listened to country music my entire life, but I can't say that this award show is awarding talented ??Country?? singer any longer. The day someone that can't even sing that well wins over the all time greats like Reba and Martina is the day it's no longer country !! How very sad !!

Most of the contemporary country stars don't sing country music. They sing pop and they want stars from rock and pop genres to sing with them. I understand there is a device that can make any voice sound good and thy must use it cause all the women sound the same. You never know who they are until the DJ tells you.
