Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow + More to Honor Neil Young

Emmylou HarrisEmmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow will bring southern sound to an all-star lineup honoring singer Neil Young as the MusiCares Person of the Year.

They join an impressive list of artists including Norah Jones, Dave Matthews, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Josh Groban and k.d. lang, who will take the stage in a special event early next year honoring the Canadian rocker for his numerous charitable efforts.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was part of the legendary group Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. He has also had a successful career as both a solo artist and a songwriter. Additionally, he was the notorious inspiration behind Lynyrd Skynyrd's hit 'Sweet Home Alabama' (in response to his own song, 'Southern Man.' )

The MusiCares Person of the Year is awarded to artists who have demonstrated both outstanding artistic achievement as well as extensive philanthropic work. Neil is credited, along with Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp, with creating the hugely successful annual Farm Aid concerts.

Past recipients include Elton John, Bono, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder. The ceremony homoring Neil Young will be held January 29 in Los Angeles. MusiCares assists musicians and others in the music industry who are facing financial, medical and other hardships.
