Garth Brooks says he always tries to accommodate folks who recognize him, even though when he's with his family he tries to be just another Average Joe on the street. But an incident a few years ago reminded the superstar that he can't always just be Daddy Garth when he's out in public.Garth and his youngest daughter, Allie Colleen, were at a speech meet in Oklahoma back in 2002. "We were at the finals and so between the time the contestants gave their speeches and the judging, we decided to take a break and go to CiCi's Pizza for lunch," Garth recalls. "We were all sitting there eating, and this little girl came up and asked if I was Garth Brooks."
Garth told her he was, and introduced her to his daughter. The two girls started talking and before Garth realized what was going on, a long line autograph seekers had formed. Garth happily obliged, signing something for everyone in line. But one woman waited her turn, not to get Garth's signature but to give him a little lecture!
Garth says at that moment he realized no matter what you do or how hard you try to do what you think is best, you never know how people are going to react. The beloved entertainer is about to return to the concert stage for a 15-week engagement in Las Vegas, beginning Dec. 11.
