Taylor Swift joins a elite group of 2009 newsmakers, as one of NBC's 'People of the Year.' In a special to air Thanksgiving night, host Matt Lauer will spotlight the most fascinating, inspirational, heroic and notorious figures -- and the most-talked about stories of the year. Also making the list are Nadya Suleman (the so-called 'Octo-mom'), 'Britain's Got Talent' sensation Susan Boyle, NBA star Kobe Bryant, Captain Chelsey ('Sully') Sullenberger, the commercial pilot who landed his jet in the Hudson River and Captain Richard Phillips, who fought off Somali pirates.
For her part, Taylor's year has been nothing short of phenomenal. She ...
-- was named the youngest-ever CMA Entertainer of the Year at age 19.
-- is the year's biggest-selling artist in all musical genres.
-- has the longest-charting album of the 21st century.
-- hosted and was the musical guest on 'Saturday Night Live.'
-- created a global sensation with the sold-out 'Fearless' tour, which continues in 2010.
-- launched a line of signature guitars and greeting cards.
-- filmed her big-screen debut in the comedy 'Valentine's Day.'
NBC's 'People of the Year' with Matt Lauer, will premiere on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 9:00 PM (ET).

__Congratulations Taylor! An amazing 4 CMA awards including Entertainer of the Year, and now NBC People of the Year, wow. Taylor, don't listen to all these petty comments and all the jealous people that are mad they can't be where you are. You are a star. You sing like an angel and you're the sweetest heart in the biz. Not only are you multi-talented, you are smoking hot beautiful and yes I am an older guy and big fan.
Thanks for giving Country Music all these hits and keep them coming Taylor. You have a good head on your shoulders and don't let the industry corrupt your soul like so many other celebrities your age.
I commend you Taylor and am looking forward to seeing you for many years to come. Enjoy your accomplishments, Dear!
Love,

Taylor truly deserves all the awards she is receiving! I am in awe of her talents, and my friends and I truly look forward to seeing what she will do next. She is so creative and so gifted, we just love to see what inspiration she will have next and how she will work with her media to express what comes to her.
Her voice is so beautiful, when she sings her music, it is uplifting.
Having someone who keeps giving and giving to her public and her fans is such fun. Playing her music gives a bright spot to our days, and her poetic lyrics, perceptive observations, and wonderful use of words/language move us to think about different experiences in life and to focus on positive ways of handling challenges and celebrating blessings.
God bless you, Taylor. Just keep on being yourself, and know that we don't care at all what jealous, ignorant critics might say, to their own embarrassment. We appreciate your values and choices, and we appreciate how you share your thoughts, feelings, plans, values (minus parties, drugs, sex additions, etc.) and how you share your zest for living.

She should thank Kanye West for boosting her career. If he had of never stood up and acted a fool, than Taylor Swift would not have blown up.
