Taylor Swift may have just won the American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Artist, but she maintains she's still country to the core."I think a country song is when you are singing about being proud of your life," Taylor tells CNN. "I sing about love and boys, and that's my life. So that's what fascinates me -- feelings. And so I think if you're singing and writing songs about the way that you live your life, that's a country song."
The 19-year-old continues her unprecedented winning streak, including snagging five American Music Awards and four CMA Awards. But the newly crowned AMA Artist of the Year insists all the trophies she's accumulated this year aren't her measure of success. "I think for me the most satisfying thing is going out with my first headlining tour and having every show sell out. That was something that I never dreamed would be so quick to happen," she says. "Putting Madison Square Garden on sale and having it be sold out in 59 seconds. I can't believe that. I'm still completely blown away by that."
The sold-out Fearless tour, which has been extended into 2010, proves to Taylor that dreams do come true. "I thought I was going to do what my parents did. They went to college. They went into business and I loved music, and I never imagined that I would actually get to do that as a job. It's wonderful."

If she is so country why let yourslf be played on pop radio???
Sexy Bitchat 11-29-2009
That is a stupid question.
Johnat 11-29-2009
you say why play on pop radio... *cough* Just so you are aware, if you are educated at all you dumb f**ks, pop Radio is "Popular Radio. Give taylor at least a little respect because at least she made it big when she was 17, she had and still has her whole life ahead of her. I myself am extremely happy for her. What has the majority of the united states population have to say about taylor for creating hope, joy, happiness, and so much more??? oh only that shes not a country singer... Just so yall know, Taylor swift is orginally from Lexington, North Carolina my friends... it doesnt get any more or less country if you are on a pop list or not! 2 more things i have to add before im done blabbing at you people. 1. She makes more money every year than half you people who talk so poorly of her. and 2. Taylor is a young adult, actually shes my age. but still none the less give the girl credit for making her life exactly what she wants it to be. she has that right not only as an american "country singer" but also as a human being! Tabloids Back off her... im sure she gets extremely irritated with the constant bad talk of her! Taylor whether your Country music is considered "Country" or not i am proud of you because you follow your own heart and your own path. this is what makes you a good person. and yes i do believe she is a strictly country singer who made it big... so once again Hence why it is POP!... its Popular music you dumb F**ks -John Winston-Salem, NC & Torrington, CT

John she's not from North Carolina she's from Pennsylvania ...and you call people dumb? LOL

This twit wouldn't know real country music if it slapped her in the face. Her music is teen pop.
Mattat 11-24-2009
Ha yeah she's not country. George jones is the onl one who seems to realize it. No country singer has rap/techno remix's played on hip-hop radio daily. Or the fact that a lot of her fans don;t listen to any other country. Maybe one day she'll stop getting every award handed to her.
She started off country, but now is full blown pop and nothing else. She's lie all the other girls that try and switch to country to start on their horrible pop career..Taylor just did it backwards.
How does someone win entertainer of the year when she open's for all the big acts?
MARKat 11-29-2009
Just because she was the opening act does not mean everyone who went to the show was going to see the headliner. She has a very strong and loyal following and did quite well on her fearless tour. I took my daughter to see her open for Keith Urban and there were as many Taylor fans as Urban fans (and her fans were much louder). I also took my daughter to see her headline on the Fearless Tour - she is quite an entertainer and put on a great show. Everyone needs to quit hating hating on her - damn she isn't even 20 years old yet.

That is the worst definition of Country Music that I have ever heard! Maybe she should go on to college!
Joebudgieat 11-29-2009
OK maeritawolverton, what is your definition of Country Music,no fair going to any dictionary or other referance book, just your words please as though you were surrounded by a huge crowd with numberous people pushing microphones in your face. Thank fast now. Paparazzi don't like to wait all day.
tiffanyat 11-29-2009
wow u guys dont see many pop stars wearing dresses n cowboy boots do u?? hell no u guys should get a life and stop downing people.... judgemental people ugh she can do whatever she wants she is an american jus like the rest of us so let her be
Dawnat 11-29-2009
Just because she wears cowboy boots with a dress on doesn't mean she's country. She's so far from country as well as tone deaf.
rgreen42n8at 11-29-2009
Dawn...you proably think Billy Ray Cyrus is the perfect example of country. There is no die hard definition of country. In fact, country use to be Minnie Pearl and Waylon Jennings...how does Carrie Underwood, Shania or faith Hill equate to those?
Donna Leeat 11-29-2009
Because she wears cowboy boots doesn't make her country!!! She's full blown teeny bopper pop and that's who's pumping her career.
argylegrooveat 11-29-2009
She'll be another meth and alcohol-addicted pop whore, with a trip to rehab under her belt, this time next year.
Amour des Âgesat 11-29-2009
No, that will be Miley Cyrus, the next Britney Spears. Can't a teenage girl find success without everyone expecting the worst of her just because she's pretty and young? Gees.
