Jake Owen made headlines all over the gossip blogs a few months ago, when rumors started swirling that he was dating pop star Britney Spears. The speculation was sparked by a YouTube video that shows the two singers engaged in some hot dance moves at one of Britney's shows."I ended up getting a lap dance on stage from her, which was pretty interesting," Jake explains to Missouri radio station Clear 99. But the singer insists any idea of a romantic relationship is "totally not the case at all ... I haven't talked to her since." Still, Jake has nothing but praise for the pop princess. "She's a great girl. It was interesting to meet her and be in that whole different world."
Not only is Jake not dating Britney, he says he is completely single at the moment. "I'm enjoying that part of my life right now," he admits. "I had a girlfriend for quite some time and we broke up, and that's OK. Things happen for a reason. I'm enjoying my single life right now."
Jake certainly has plenty of opportunity to meet eligible women, especially since his recent appearance in PEOPLE magazine's Sexiest Men in Country issue, which he acknowledges caused a little havoc within his family.
"I got a lot of crap for that from my brother," he says. His mother, on the other hand, was thrilled. "My mom's always laughing at stuff like that. She gets to show her friends."
Jake's latest single, 'Eight Second Ride,' is in the Top 20 and climbing.
