Singer-songwriter Sarah Buxton signed with Lyric Street Records in 2006, releasing her first single 'Innocence' which peaked at No. 31 on the country charts. Keith Urban recorded 'Stupid Boy,' a tune Sarah co-wrote with Dave Berg and Deanna Bryant. The song from his 2006 album 'Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing,' went to No. 3 on the charts in 2007.As with most country artists, the first goal is to get radio airplay. When that happened for Sarah, she was caught off guard. She explains to The Boot exactly where she was when she heard her first single, 'Innocence,' on the airwaves.
"I was actually in Cleveland, Ohio, at my boyfriend's mom's house. She had the radio on really low, and we heard it, and I said, 'Wait a second, that's my song!' And she [said], 'Oh, that comes on all the time here.' I don't think I felt anything. I think I just sat there and was in denial of the whole thing. 'No, that's a CD, you're kidding me?!' It was crazy. I didn't jump for joy or anything. I was in total disbelief.'
Sarah is hoping for more pleasant surprises with her new album, due out early next year.
