George, Vince, Trace + More Aid Fallen Officers' Families

George StraitBLEVE Music, the independent Nashville record label which released the 'My First Ride' CD in partnership with the Fraternal Order of Police and the International Association of Fire Fighters, donated 1,000 copies of the album to raise money for the families of police officers slain in Parkland, Wash., on Nov. 29. The four officers from the Lakewood (Wash.) police department left behind a total of nine children.

George Strait, Vince Gill, Trace Adkins, Ronnie Milsap, John Michael Montgomery, James Otto and the Bacon Brothers are among the artists featured on the CD compilation. The CDs were sold in Forza Coffee Company houses located mainly in Washington State. The Forza Coffee Company in Parkland was the site of the brutal slaying.

Brian Wurts, President of the Lakewood Police Independent Guild, says the CDs sold out within days, raising a total of $15,000 to be donated to the officers' families.

"This was such a tragic and senseless act of violence." says BLEVE President Mickey Milam. "My heart goes out to the families of these four brave officers. Police officers spend their lives protecting and serving others. It has always been BLEVE's goal to help police officers, firefighters and their families in times of disaster, and I can think of no greater disaster than the sudden loss of a loved one."

For every CD sold, BLEVE Music donates a significant portion to Fraternal Order of Police and the International Association of Fire Fighters. The album was at the center of controversy last fall, with Trace Adkins' label, Capitol Records, taking legal action against BLEVE for the release and promotion of the Ronnie/Trace duet on the CD's title track.
