Garth Brooks Heartbroken by Lawsuit

Garth BrooksLast month, news broke that country superstar Garth Brooks was suing the Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in his hometown of Yukon, Okla. Garth made a $500,000 anonymous donation to the hospital four years ago, after they promised to build a Living Center in honor of his late mother, Colleen. Since the hospital has failed to build the center, Garth is alleging breach of contract and wants his donation returned. But, he explains, it's not just about the money.

"The only thing bad about that is it's my hometown, and it's all the people I grew up with," the country superstar tells 'Access Hollywood.' "So it's a heartache, and hopefully it will be over soon because this is probably the most uncomfortable I've ever felt."

Another of Garth's charitable efforts is proving much more harmonious. He's teamed up with the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. to raise $1 million for Teammates for Kids, which helps various children's charities.

A contribution can be given "anonymously" at the time it is given. You just ask for it to be listed as such. It's not like he sent 500K in the mail in an unmarked envelope. As others have said before me a deal is a deal. If any of you gave money for a cause and it was mishandled, you'd be screaming foul all the way to the courts.......Think before you write.......whether you like Garth or not isn't the issue. And to those calling his wife (Trisha Yearwood) "a fat skank" shame on you!!! She doesn't deserve that, she isn't even part of this story. Alot of you just show how angry and miserable you are. If you were in his shoes you'd be laughing all the way to the bank, too.

Before you correct someone about spelling and GRAMMAR, learn how to spell GRAMMAR!

While everyone is entitled to their opinions some of you really need to get your facts straight and learn to use spell check. Garth Brooks donated that money to build a center through the hospital, it didn't happen. Regardless of why they didn't he should have his money back since the hospital failed to uphold their end of the deal. And even if your point is valid using improper grammer and constant spelling errors makes you look like an uneducated fool.

Garth Brooks is a big fat phony. He's like a kid from the Suburbs who's a country star wannabe. It's like if he wears those too large cowboy hats and shirts that look like racing flags he'll be thought of as a "modern," country western star. But every song he does is like he's trying to be topical. His first hit song is about domestic abuse. It's not because he cares about domestic abuse. He just knows it's a good subject for a modern good old boy to exploit. It worked.
And then Garth wanted to be a rock star and he bought a wig and wrote some songs with a fast beat and some people believed it. The Guy's a mess and when people don't treat him like he's god's gift to whatever cause he's espousing he gets all sulky and sues people.
At heart Garth's a Mama's Boy. He wants the world to remember his Mama. But all she ever did was make Garth Brooks possible.

This is for all you Idiots criticizing him. A Deal is a Deal Wendy, when you have a contract and you fail to abide by it then you are breaching it. Perhaps if you have a business of your own and alot of things are on the line then you'll understand. Don't be so ignorant and get educated.
And don't write back saying you have a business of your own because if you do then you'll be even more stupid for admitting you own a business and you don't oblige legal contracts that can ruin not only your finances but someone elses. Including other things besides money.

His donation would be anonymous in that he would not be publicly acknowledged for making the gift. Yes, it could still be named after his mother even in that instance. Terms of the agreement are generally kept private without lobbing dollar amounts around in the public eye.

It's the issue of the promise. He donated that money with the intention of helping the hospital's capital campaign for the center. We know the hospital didn't deliver on that promise.

A fundraiser has an obligation to return that money if it cannot be used in accordance with a donor's wishes. You would think that would be common sense and yet, we have this.

The bottom line is that the center was not built. period. He gave then the money over 4 years ago.I agree with him, either give him his money back, or build the center. Whats the problem?

I too wonder how his donation could have been "anonymous" if he asked for a construction in his mother's name! How is that possible??????? Another positive proof that most people in this country ndo not kn0w the meaning of words they write, say, or hear! Maybe someone should find a dictionary and look up anonymous
