Chely Wright Returns With New CD and Book

Chely WrightWhen Chely Wright bought a 2010 calendar, the first thing she did was circle May 4 in red. On that day, the singer-songwriter will release two new projects -- a CD and an autobiography.

Chely has spent the past few years out of the spotlight, focusing on the creative process, and she's excited to get out and tour again. "Mostly, I'm looking forward to getting back out there on the road and seeing [the fans]," Chely tells The Boot. "It's my favorite part of making music."

The new album, titled 'Lifted Off the Ground,' will be her first since 2005's 'Metropolitan Hotel.' The project is produced by one of Chely's songwriting heroes, Rodney Crowell. "I'm still stunned by his wisdom, guidance, talent and friendship," Chely says.

The CD's first single, 'Broken,' will be sent to radio in mid-March.

In her memoirs, titled 'Like Me,' Chely traces her musical journey back to her childhood in Kansas. She chronicles her dreams and aspirations of a career in music, and the harsh realities of recording contracts and concert tours. Chely shares stories from her seven trips overseas to perform for U.S. troops, as well from as her friendships with stars like Vince Gill and Brad Paisley.

Chely's 2010 calendar also includes a return of the Reading, Writing & Rhythm Benefit Show to Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon on June 8, during CMA Music Festival. The fan-favorite event has helped Chely's charitable organization raise over a million dollars to support music in public schools.

I love Shut Up And Drive, Single White Female, and Never Love You Enough, but no one has heard her since Love You ENough. That's been at LEAST ten years ago. I'm lookin' forward to the music she has to offer.
