Big Kenny Details 'Heart-Sinking' but Hopeful Trip to Haiti

On Wednesday night (Jan. 20), Big Kenny was "riding the winding roads of [the] Dominican Republic with 10 doctors and our crew," headed toward the town of Jimaní, on the border of Haiti, where a hospital and triage has been set up to treat victims of the Jan. 12 earthquake and the devastating aftershocks.

Describing "heart-sinking" conditions and casualties, Kenny has been updating his blog, saying his spirits have also been uplifted by the show of love and support for quake-ravaged Haiti.

"The outpouring of aid from around the world that I am witnessing is none short of amazing," he writes. "Many on our same flight. Many on this bus with me. Love is flowing. That is good. I heard a French girl was pulled from the Montana Hotel wreckage today alive. Still 7 search and rescue teams working there."

In spite of the situation, Kenny, who said he hoped to arrive in Port Au Prince on Thursday, writes: "I remain faithful. What a reminder to let the daily small stuff fly out the window and really live our dreams!

"Fuel supplies are low ... after another quake today, Haiti will need all the help it can get for a long time. I guess one of the best ways we can all help is spread the word."

And even amidst anguish and sorrow for those who have died, and those who have yet to be rescued, Big Kenny clings yet to a flickering flame of hope at his very core ... that love and the human spirit will triumph in the end.

"I'm excited to think the music industry will step up and raise a great voice for our hurting neighbors so near to our south," he writes. "Another great education in life this is. 'Tomorrow, I might have to go and fly away.'

"Keeping it positive and running fast as I can to find my friend! Everybody help, however small or big. I would hope someone would come if it were my town. When I see how people can care so much in the trying times, I believe even more in the obtainability of PEACE."

Ladies & gents, NO ONE has been this concerned about a natural disaster ravaged place since Hurrican Katrina. It's pretty sad how you need trouble for everyone to come together.

The movie stars have been right there when a disaster happens. They are truly blessed and i thank them for the millioms of dollars they have given of their own money. Those are the ones I respect. Madonna only gave 250.000 and she could well afford a million since she is almost a billionaire. shame on her. aslo what did Oprah do so far. she does help many people. A million to them is nothing compared to a dollar for us low average working people, but we still give what we can.

I have done what I could to hep Haiti and thankful there are so many others who have. But my question is ow much did Clinton,Bush and Obama give of their money to help. Or did they just show up for their pictures to be shown.
