Only two weeks after Nashville's city planning commission approved a proposal to rename part of Music Row's famous Music Square East to Patsy Cline Boulevard, the legislation was withdrawn after complaints were made from a local resident."No offense to Patsy Cline," Music Square East resident Christina Lapoutre told Nashville's WSMV-TV. "I think she was an amazing, legendary musician, but part of the reason I live here is because it's Music Square East. It's a great landmark for Nashville, and internationally, it's very well-known."
Patsy Cline Boulevard was to join streets already named after famous icons, including Roy Acuff Place and Chet Atkins Place. Patsy's former producer, Owen Bradley, also has a nearby park named after him. Council members will now look for other ways of honoring Patsy, who's life was cut short at the young age of 30 in a 1963 plane crash.
Other Music Row East landmarks include performing rights organization BMI -- which represents such Patsy-associated titles as 'Crazy' and 'I Fall To Pieces,' Warner Bros. Records -- the recording home for Faith Hill and Blake Shelton, Curb Records -- home to Tim McGraw and LeAnn Rimes, and an office built on the grounds at the very corner where Patsy recorded all her hits.

She's not getting her street because people think Music Square East is traditional?! That's a boring name, and weird logic. it most likely wasn't named Music Square East 100 years ago. Why are they concerned now?! Let Patsy have her place, dang it!

Patsy Cline is special. Nashville should honor her in more ways than a street named after her. Shame on you who would snub her. Listen to her music!

I can't believe they listen to that lady! The reason does not make sense! She is just as good as anyone else. Patsy needs to be there with everyone else. I was planning a vacation there this summer but if they can't put Patsy's name there on that square then I am going to rethink my decision and advise everyone else to do the same. If they listen to that lady then they should listen to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my entire life. If it were April 1st, I'd swear it was a really bad joke.
Patsy was a LEGEND; her legacy has inspired countless people both during and after her all-to-short life. I've always thought of her as a female Hank Williams, Sr. She had so much class, style, and panache, and she gave a beautiful, cultured sound to the female sound in country music back in the day. She changed country music culture FOREVER, she was that unique.
Patsy is still loved and revered by millions the world over. She is still known internationally a lot more than this moron or her boring street name! This Christine idiot is just trying to get her own fifteen minutes of fame (infamy, really), it seems to me, by being a total jackass. PATSY DID SOMETHING SPECIAL AND BEAUTIFUL. Why is this ONE UNKNOWN, NOBODY woman's opinion so bloody important?
WHAT DID THIS LAME BRAIN EVER DO FOR NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, OR COUNTRY MUSIC, I'D LIKE TO KNOW??????
It's like Patsy has died a second time.

Another example of how in our Republic where majority rule is turning into rule by the vocal minority. One person complains so they scrub the whole project????? Especially when there isnt a good reason. First PETA wants a mechanical groundhog, then a minority fringe group doesnt want Mother Theresa to be put on a stamp and now one of the greatest pinoeering female artists is being denied her due because of 1 person? This is insane!!!!!

Jim,
Seriously, stick to the topic.

their is an asshole in every crowd. it makes no differance how good an idea is, some brainless idiot will complain, small minded people want their "opinions" to be heard.

Who in the Blue Hell IS this ditz, and who died to make her Queen of Nashville? #1, it doesn't say anything about her being ANYTHING in the music industry..."a resident." #2, even if she IS a musician, definately not one of note enough to actually be able to pull strings like that, which leads to #3, she is ONE PERSON!!! I've seen hundreds of people try to protest a change to no avail. Shame on Nashville...Let her live somewhere else!

What does this seemingly ignorant woman have on the city council, that they would reneg on this plan to honor an ICON?Sorry but if it's a nobody versus Patsy Cline...who should rate the honor and deference? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out!!!The council should be ashamed of themselves for bowing down to a bitter(probably jealous)woman!!! I wonder how this woman would feel if the council withdrew a plan to honor her????Way to go you ignoramus...you must be very proud to be the most disliked person in not only Nashville but in all of the country-music world, why don't you crawl back under the rock that you came from!!!

They tried to rename Glendale Avenue in Glendale, Arizona to Marty Robbins Avenue, but that failed also. What a shame.

What happened to my comment???

If she was such a legend then why wasn't the street named after her when she died and not 40 plus years later? Her music is ok, but seriously, there's more in this world that needs taken care of than what to name or change a street to.

Since when does one complaint stop anything? Oh right, she is probably queer.

I loved listening to her when I was younger and singing her songs with my mom. I don't normally listen to this kind of music but she was very good and deserves an honor. I'd also like to know who this person thinks she is and how she single handedly brought this down...
