Carrie Underwood may be engaged to hockey player Mike Fisher, but she is about to become a football fan -- at least for one day. The Grammy-nominated singer was recently tapped to perform the national anthem at this year's Super Bowl. The Feb. 7 game, pitting the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts, will be held in Miami. In addition to Carrie's performance, Queen Latifah will sing 'America the Beautiful,' and legendary band The Who will perform at halftime.
Other singers who have sung "The Star-Spangled Banner" before a Super Bowl game include fellow country artists Garth Brooks, Faith Hill and the Dixie Chicks, as well as Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, Harry Connick, Jr., Beyonce and many others.
Super Bowl XLIV will air live on CBS. Carrie, by the way, does have a football player in her past. She put on a football uniform in this video for 'All American Girl.'

Hopefully Carrie will be fully dressed for the event! I watched her rise to fame on American Idol and am very disappointed that she has joined all the rest of the female stars by wearing clothing that shows a little too much skin. I really thought she was better than that but guess you just throw some things aside when you become famous

Ummm, when is she not ever fully dressed? If you're talking about the 'cowboy casanova vid', my God, relax. It's not like her boobs were popping out or she was sliding around a stripper pole. She was having a little fun; she was playing a character. She's made it clear that she isn't like that. All that- the videos, the songs, like 'before he cheats' and 'last name'- it's just her having a little harmless fun. She didn't become a poptart, she's not walking the streets half naked, jeez.
Good luck, Carrie! Though you don't need it!!! :D
