Jack Ingram Invites All Haters

JAck IngramEverybody is entitled to have their own opinion when it comes to music. Some artists may take it personally, but in Jack Ingram's case, he actually doesn't want you to like him!

"I want people to hate me," Jack tells GAC. "There are more people who hate Aerosmith than know who I am. I want people to make a choice. That means I'm making art that might leave a stamp. That's cool by me."

However, Jack quickly adds with laughter that he doesn't want to be harmed by those people who don't care for him!

"I mean, I don't want people to beat me up or come chase me and come tell me they hate me, but I do want people to make a choice about my music and buy in ... or opt out," he explains. "It's art. You can think whatever you want about my music, Aerosmith's music, Kenny Chesney's music, Taylor Swift's music ... I don't care because I know what I'm doing is right for me, and I know that I do have an audience that's growing, and people like what I do."

The singer says that he is content with the way things are going in the music business and is grateful for any and all ways to get his music to his fans.

"There's more freedom out there now. There's more ways to get your music out there. Whether they hear me play it live, buy it on the computer -- however you get your music -- I'm just glad you get it," he says. "Every time I make a record, I'm very attached to it, and I'm very proud of it, but my best song is the last one I wrote and the next one I'm going to write. In my mind, that's what I'm concerned with."

Jack is out on the road with the Eli Young Band and Gary Allan. His current single, 'Free,' is one of our top picks for 2010 (so far). Check out our list here and tell us which song is your favorite so far this year.

I've met him several times also and he is a great guy with a great sense of humor. He doesn't take himself too seriously and puts on a fantastic show. Since he is in the genre of Texas country (as opposed to the mainstream pop-country) he hasn't gotten as much exposure until recently. BUT... he has some really amazing songs from his older albums too! Everyone should listen before deciding whether they like him or his music! The article is just his point that it's better to be hated than unknown. He is becoming more popular all the time, and it is well deserved from his hard work! He used to tour with Pat Green, who most people reading this will have heard of. If you listen to country music stations, you've heard Jack Ingram many times. Keep up the good work, Jack! I'll always be a fan! :)

Hey Louis...I'm afraid you are just to slick and intelligent for us "rabble" and "denizens" to compete with. Why you are so much more worthy to post your opinion and comments than us mere mortals! All hail Louis! Make way for the all knowing all seeing Louis! How I wish we could have consulted with your highness before we were foolish enough to leave a simple comment about this moron who thinks he's worthy to be in the same sentence as AEROSMITH! You're just as stupid as he is...no matter how many fancy words you can think of.

You just proved Louis' point. Haters all of you. Of course you all are entitled to your own opinion. Louis stated what the article is really about. Your intelligence is showing. I do not know this man or his music, and not everyone is a fan of AEROSMITH either. So what? I am. So what? Why is everyone so hateful? Live and let live. Try being happy for awhile, maybe you won't have such an intense desire to tear others down. Peace.

Ah, how the rabble like to denigrate anyone with a modicum of success. I am sure you are all very successful, intelligent, talented and well-known in your respective fields. I would caution, however, that your reading comprehension skills seem somewhat deficient. It is clear that the singer in question is simply indicating his desire to have his music exposed to as many people as possible--so that he may reach a point in his career where people know his music and perhaps are impassioned enough to 'hate' him . . . if you actually think about it, the degree to which celebrities, artists, politicians, whatever, are maligned often corresponds somewhat equally to the degree to which they are admired and/or envied. Keep it real, denziens of AOL.

Well, Jack Ingram is proud to do what he is doing. He says that he wants people to hate him. That is fine. In some way, I feel the same way only that I am not really concerned whether people like me or not. The truth is not everyone is going to like you anyways.

Some people don't like Michael Jackson and some don't even like the President now. What can you expect from those who are just negative anyway?
