Brad Paisley Touts Taylor Swift as Voice of Her Generation

Brad Paisley first spotted the talents of Taylor Swift a few years ago, when he tapped her to open his Bonfires and Amplifiers tour in 2007, along with Jack Ingram and Kellie Pickler. Since that time she's grown as both an artist and as a woman, and Brad says she's now speaking to a whole audience who might not otherwise be reached, if it weren't for her songs.

"I think she is the voice of her generation," Brad tells the syndicated radio show Country Countdown U.S.A. "In her age group when normally they don't have that sort of thing -- a true lyrical songwriter person who puts into song the feelings of her age group, a teenager who's able to write perfectly about those years of life. Usually, those people don't necessarily have that until they're older. Here's teenagers able to say this woman, this young woman is my voice. She's singing about my heartbreak and the love I'm feeling and the things that are going on."

Brad hosted the CMA Awards with Carrie Underwood last year, and was on stage when Taylor took home the Entertainer of the Year award. He says he couldn't have been any prouder of her than he was right at that moment.

Brad has a few days off from his American Saturday Night trek, but returns to the road March 4 in Greenville, S.C. On that same night, Taylor Swift's Fearless tour resumes in Tampa, Fla.

Oh ya one other thing. Everyone can have a bad night. I was at a Hank Jr concert where his was totally wasted, kicked his band off the stage, and stripped to just his jeans (uew not pretty) and was reallllly bad. If it hadn't been for George Straight and Rickey Skaggs also there that night I would have walked out. Just saying there are good times and bad and I still love Hank Jr!

I find this laughable that the "older generation" think Taylor is so bad. You have short memories. Do you remember how they hated Willie, Waylon, and the outlaws of country. Mmmmm that worked out pretty good for them. Music changes with the times. Oh ya I'm a 57 yr old Grandma and I and my 11 yr old granddaughter love Taylor Swift for being such a good influence on the next generation. Get over yourselves!!

Some artists are singer/song writers. Not Ms. Swift.
In the ongoing attempt to homogenize country music to please everybody, what has really happened is that country music fans have been left out in the cold. Songs like 'Cherokee Fiddle' by Johnny Lee, and 'Murder On Music Row' by George Strait & Alan Jackson have beatifully lamented this for years. I say if Swift can write, let her, but who would want to sing her songs?

She seems like a lovely young woman and a talented songwriter.....but, seriously, she can't sing a note on tune. Pairing her with Stevie Nicks couldn't have pointed that out more clearly. Listen to Reba, Faith, Martina, or IMO the leader of the magnificent voices, Trisha Yearwood and the difference is unquestionable.
That being said, she seems like a wonderful influence on the generation that seems to be her greatest fans and that's a good thing.

Brad I think you're right! I absolutely love Taylor Swift, she is an amazing singer. And she did bring me to country music. I used to hate it, but now it's all i listen to. Because I liked Taylor's songs, I started listening to Carrie, Faith, and Miranda, and I love them too.

I absolutely love Taylor Swift. And he said "Voice of HER Generation," not voice of the old people. 50 years listening to country music? this is not your generation. He is talking about the younger kids between 13 and 25, maybe not as old as 25 but you get what i am saying. I respect the older country singers as well, but she is amazing and she really brings something great to the table for young kids to admire and look up too. She relates to people in a different way. And maybe she cant sing as well as Carrie Underwood or Reba, by some peoples standards, not mine b/c i love her voice, but she is still a wonderful artist and i am for one am thankful i can listen to songs that dont center around drinking and drugs, or sex and butts and boobs through all of the lyrics. i am 18 years old and can still relate my life with her songs.

Brad, I respect and admire you, however with that said, you are so wrong on so many levels. If she is the voice of generations, then they are all tone deaf! Kanye West was the gift that kept on giving and hopefully that is gone after her performance at the Grammy's and the people have turned a deaf ear to her horrible singing. She has not brought new fans to country because she tweaked her songs to pop music-big difference. The women of country music would be Reba, Miranda,Carrie, Faith, and Martina.
