Danny Gokey, who was the third-place finalist on season eight of 'American Idol,' is paying visits to radio stations to promote his debut single 'My Best Days Are Ahead of Me' from his just-released album, 'My Best Days.'One of the sentimental favorites during his time on 'AI,' audiences responded to Danny's personal story of losing his wife, Sophia, who died during a routine surgery just weeks before his audition.
During his visit to Washington, D.C.-area radio station WMZQ this week, Danny discussed the poignant connection he shares with Kent Blazy, the writer of 'My Best Days Are Ahead of Me.'
"I recorded this song months ago and gave it to radio, and I just found recently that the writer ... he lost his wife last year in January. And this is the first song that he wrote after his wife passed away. Can you believe it? He said he was ready to start writing again after the tragedy. He said, 'I was walking through the park, and I heard someone walk past, and he said, 'My best days are ahead of me.' And [Kent] said, 'That's what started the song idea.' This song is my anthem." says Danny.
Danny also told the radio audience that he loves quotes, and one that he lives by is: "Unshakable faith is faith that has been shaken."
Danny will perform the single during his visit to 'American Idol' on Thursday (March 4).
