Charlie Daniels Calls U.S. Government a 'Dictatorship'

Charlie DanielsHe may proudly sing patriotic songs, including 'This Ain't No Rag, It's a Flag' and 'My Beautiful America,' but now Charlie Daniels says he's angry and disappointed by leadership in his home country. Speaking out against the recent health-care reform bill, Charlie says America is on a fast downward spiral.

"We no longer have a representative government; we essentially have a dictatorship that is willing to force their will on us regardless of what we want," he says in a March 22 post on his website's "Soapbox and Message Board" titled 'Black Monday.' "This is the most despicable act ever perpetrated on the American public by the most dishonorable congress we've ever had."

But most of the blame, the musician continues, falls on the Commander-in-Chief. "[President] Obama claims this program will actually cut the budget, but anybody with a brain in their heads knows that it will not only not cut the budget, but will cost trillions of dollars that we just don't have, adding catastrophic amounts to the national debt."

He continues, "I have always had unfailing faith in the American ability to persevere, to bounce back and overcome almost anything, but people, this health care bill will change America into something that will resemble a police state."

He then closes the post by issuing a bleak preview of where he believes the country is heading. "America is on it's way to becoming the largest banana republic on earth," he warns. "Pray for our troops, and for our country."

The Grand Ole Opry member, who recently returned to stage after recovering from a mild stroke he suffered earlier this year, is already back on the road with his band. (He also hints that skydiving may be in his future!)

Hey FOOLbear, maybe he paid for his insurance from the money he worked for and earned. MAYBE he didn't rely on the government to take care of him. Sounds like you are one that wants daddy to take care of you.

Charlie Daniels hit the nail right on the head! Anybody with a deep love of America and what it USED to stand for can see the honesty and truth in what he is saying. He's far more clear-thinking than those left-coast moonbats and kook-aid sipping liberals.
You go, Charlie!

We'll see how much you kool-aid drinkers 'love' your president...when they IRS takes money out of your bank account to pay for healthcare coverage. Paying taxes has NOTHING to do with loving your country...you pay your taxes because you HAVE too, or go to prison...paying taxes has nothing to do with love of country, but a love of freedom.(not going to prison). OR, we'll see how much you 'love' paying taxes when yours are increased by about $2,000 dollars a year to pay for someone elses healthcare...Daniels maybe a 'redneck', but he's 100% correct. We now have a dictatorship.
Who's to say that Congress won't do away with presidential term limits...obama will be el presidente' FOREVER!!!! GOD HELP US, ALL!!!

If I had a stroke, I'd probably end up dead. When you get laid off, you lose your health insurance. "Tough luck" is what the Republicans will tell you when that happens.

And one more thing - about not insuring children with pre-existing conditions......insurance company executives should be in jail for that!

Anyone with even 1/10th of a functional synapse firing in their cranium will recognize that this country has instituted ALL the planks of the communist manifesto. As well, the government doesn't give a crap what the sheeple want. They're all about their own agenda which is DEATH! Abortion, death panels, war etc. The less people living the more money for those in power. Don't you get it yet?! Read your history books and see how Hitler came into power. As a matter of fact Hitler, Franco and Mussolini all came into power during the "depression years". Same here, when people get scared and have no money they're stupid enough to put into power strong leaders for good or evil because they're fundamentally weak! Obama's NOT going to pay your mortgage or put gas in your car you fools! If he does he's taking the money from someone who's actually EARNING it and giving it to someone who's NOT. That's called communism! How long do you think that concept will work before those who work hard and have nothing left to show for it, while their neighbor receives the same amount for doing nothing? When the parasite becomes bigger than it's host THEY BOTH DIE!

Charlie is horribly offensive.............because he is RIGHT !!! You could argue that the idiot boy in charge in DC is just a traitor I guess - WAY overstepping the Constitution. Every one in Congress (except the handful who are furiously fighting the government takeover of America) needs to be thrown out in November - both parties but esp the Democratics thouh.

It is so funny to me that some of the people that might be most helped by this health care bill have been convinced by the wealthy health care CEO's to protect the wealthy at their own expense. Social Security and Medicare were fought just as hard, but now we know that they are critical to the elderly. They are also thought to be socialistic. The health care industry is a for profit industry and the profit is at the expense of the health of the people. People are dying. This is the reality. We cannot tolerate Americans dying so that the rich can get richer. This is not a political issue. It is a human rights issue. When a parent, child or loved one is denied the health care needed to live, this human rights issue becomes far more evident. I have seen good middle class people that did everything the right way, bankrupted by a family illness that their insurance found ways to deny care for and have seen the resulting loss of life. This is America, my God. This is America. How can any American allow Americans to die or suffer so that wealthy health insurance executives and stock holders make huge profits? Didn't the banking fiasco show us that money corrupts the souls of those who care only for themselves. They didn't care if the American economy failed or that millions lost their jobs, homes and middle class lifestyles. Gosh, they were too busy collecting their bonuses and partying as the back of the American economy was broken.
This is America. I am an American and I am proud to say that I will financially, physically and politically support any political leader that will protect the least represented American and knows and fights for the health and well being of every American. A healthy and well educated American can build a strong American future.
