Craig Morgan has had a number of hit singles since leaving the Army (after serving 10 years as a paratrooper) to pursue a career in country music full-time. Among the hits, 'Bonfire,' 'Redneck Yacht Club' and the No. 1 hit, 'That's What I Love About Sunday,' just to name a few.Craig began his career as a songwriter, and in 2000, signed a recording contract releasing his self-titled debut album. Craig tells The Boot about the first time he heard one of his songs on the radio.
"I was in Dickson, Tenn., driving down the road by myself on Highway 46 South when I heard my first record. It was in 2000. My first single was called 'Something to Write Home About.' It had not really achieved any status on the charts yet, but it was a little AM station in my hometown where I lived. And I remember hearing it as I driving down the road. I kept trying to eject the cassette, because I was thinking I had the cassette playing! And it wasn't until the song finished and the on-air personality said, 'Hey, that's our own boy Craig Morgan with his new single, 'Something to Write Home About.'' I just remember being excited and thinking, 'Man! Maybe it's working!' It was weird hearing myself on the radio, and I can tell you it's still weird. When I come on [now], I usually change the channel!"
