Lady Antebellum Perform on 'American Idol'

Lady AntebellumLady Antebellum are 'American Idol' bound next week, though they won't be there live in person. The hot country trio have pre-recorded a performance of their No. 1 song, 'Need You Now.'

The recording is just the latest way that Lady Antebellum -- known individually as Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott -- have lent their voices in support of the show. Last month, the trio famously defended the the show during an interview on Sirius Radio.

"It's so hard to get a break. I think that show honestly is one of the greatest things. I truly do," Charles said. "One of the things we realize, too, is it's all being in the right place at the right time."

Hillary also told the Sirius audience that she auditioned for 'Idol' twice and never made it past the first round.

The Grammy Award-winning group is riding high this week with their third consecutive No. 1 hit, 'American Honey.' They go into this Sunday's ACM Awards with seven nominations, the most of any artist.

In another tie with Idol, at their invitation, Kris Allen opened for Lady Antebellum on 4/15 at the Wiltern in L.A. From all accounts, it was an awesome concert. They even brought him back on stage to sing "Hey Jude" with them to close the show. They and Kris had great chemistry together. Here's hoping they'll ask him to open for them again in the future.
