The Zac Brown Band Want Your Letters

The Zac Brown Band has found yet another way to support U.S. troops. The ACM Award-nominated band skipped the show this week so they could join a USO tour. And now they've partnered with Dodge Ram Trucks to start a letter-writing campaign for U.S. military personnel.

The Letters for Lyrics campaign kicks off May 10 with a goal of sending one million letters to U.S. troops stationed throughout the world. Participants who write a letter to a member of the U.S. military will receive a special compilation CD titled, 'Breaking Southern Ground.' The exclusive CD features three new songs from the Zac Brown Band, as well as music from Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan and Levi Lowrey, who are also signed to Zac's label, Southern Ground.

"Performing with the USO for the men and women in uniform has been a great experience for us," Zac said in a statement. "We wanted to find a bigger way to thank them, a way to mobilize people nationwide to show their support for these incredible individuals."

Visit the Letters for Lyrics website for more information and also to check out behind-the-scenes footage taped by the band members documenting their April visit to U.S. troops stationed in the Persian Gulf. Documentary-style segments and concert footage will premiere on the site and new episodes will be posted throughout the letter-writing campaign.

An exclusive live version of the band's latest single, 'Free,' is now available for download to the first 100,000 fans who visit the site. For each download, a donation will be made to a designated charity on behalf of the Zac Brown Band and the Ram truck brand.

Nancy...it's "wants," not "want." The band is singular.

Great idea from Zac and the guys, though. Our leaders sure as hell don't show much love for the guys and gals in uniform.

Our troops need all the support they can get since it isn't happening on the political side.

I love the music from Zac Brown but the song they did at the award show seemed like a rip off of a song the group ALABAMA did. the melody and everything about it sounds just like ALABAMA

The Zac Brown Band is one of the newest groups to hit Nashville, and they already have their own label?! I don't know wether to be astonished or weirded out. It's crazy! I think it's awesome they're encouraging people to write to soldiers so they can have a piece of their stomping ground there.
