Darryl Worley Heads Overseas to Play for Troops

Darryl Worley is set to kick off his Stars For Stripes military tour next week -- April 29 through May 3. The We've Not Forgotten tour will include several full-band concerts, as well as scaled-down acoustic shows at various Forward Operating Bases in Iraq.

Darryl has been entertaining troops since 2002, traveling to Afghanistan, Kuwait and Uzbekistan, which in part inspired him to write 'Have You Forgotten?,' the song that inspired the tour's name. The singer calls those trips "the best work I've done since I've been in the business. I've never done it for accolades or for publicity. I do it because I want to."

Darryl's experiences overseas also motivated him to launch major charitable efforts at home by initiating the Darryl Worley Foundation which provides funds to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, LeBonheur Children's Medical Center, Ayers Children's Medical Center and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"Coming off some of those trips really made me want to dig in and do more for my home area," Darryl says.

After his stint overseas next week, Darryl will begin work on a new album. Beginning May 14, he will host five songwriter series' throughout the summer with the first event, Hitmakers on the Harbor in Pickwick, Tenn., already sold out. All proceeds from the benefits will benefit the Darryl Worley Foundation.

Although I do get what you're saying, the given title does make since. If it meant that a Country Star was going to be deployed to Iraq, it would have read "Coutry Star to be deployed to Iraq."

I wish he would stop here in Ramstein AFB, Germany on his way! That song makes me cry everytime, but also makes me so proud to be an American! So proud/thankful for our troops!

I wish the USO would get some of these singers (Darryl Worley, Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Kellie Pickler, Neal McCoy, etc) to make a stop for the Troops stationed in the Horn of Africa. We've got nearly 3,500 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Marines there.

I do not appreciate the headline on the AOL welcome screen "Country Star Leaves for Iraq April 29". It leads one to believe that a country music artist is being deployed to combat in Iraq. Although the article does state that he is going there to play for our troops, I think that it was a bad idea to word the headline that way. It was a disgusting attempt to get people to click on the link in hopes of reading about a music star who was risking his music career and life to defend our country (similar to NFL star Pat Tillman's story). I request that the headline be changed immediately. I do want to say that I do appreciate the artists who go to Iraq and Afganistan to perform for our troops. Whoever wrote that headline excersized very bad judgement

PiMp,
You cannot honestly be that ignorant. Come on man, don't write a comment just to read the crap you spew. Nothing in the headline said the artist would preform military service. If you seriously believed this stuff than my faith in humanity should be taken down a little bit. Dumbass.
