Kid Rock to Host CMT Awards

Kid Rock"The rumors are true," Kid Rock writes on his Facebook page today (April 29). "I'm hosting the CMT Awards live from Nashville on June 9th ... All I can promise is I will be awesome."

Kid Rock will indeed take hosting honors at the fan-voted awards ceremony, which kicks off Nashville's annual CMA Music Fest. CMT has also announced performances on the live broadcast by Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood, who are all nominated for multiple CMT Awards.

Fans have until May 3 to complete the first round of voting. On May 11, CMT will announce the final four nominees in each category, allowing fans to then participate in the second round of voting through June 8, to determine the winner in each category. Click here to vote for your favorite videos.

The CMT Awards air live on June 9 at 8:00 PM ET.

Well I think it's totally awesome and looking forward to the show! I know people tend to enjoy knocking Kid Rock and it ticks me off. Have you that do so actually listened to any of his older music?? Sure 'All Summer Long' got him in the country music spotlight (and a well-deserved award I might add:) but have you actually listened to any of his other songs? Try listening to his self-titled album back from I believe '93? Totally awesome! He can do rock, country, hiphop and soul-a bit of jazz too! Try listening to 'Cold and Empty' or 'Only God knows Why'--how about 'Roll On'? He's a very versitle artist and if people would listen to him RATHER than knock him maybe they will find this out for themselves! Rock on Kid-your fans LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

I think Roger McGuinn should host it. Since the Byrds got booed off the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in the 60's...

I think it's cool that Kid Rock is hosting. Though he may not be "country", there is obvious country music influence in his music. I think it's artists like Kid Rock that help introduce the younger generation to country music and helps them broader their appreciation for other types of music.

Why can't there be a country music show without Kid Rock, Bon Jovi, Uncle Cracker, and more people that aren't country musicians? Hell Taylor Swift, Rascal Flats, and so many more are just MTV wannabes. Johnny and Waylon are probably doing about 2500 rpm in their graves.

Then tell Carrie Underpants to stay out of country. Also, Faith Hill, Lady Antabellum, and all the others who cross over to Rock n Roll. Kid Rock's heros include Johnny Cash, Hank Jr. and Haggard. I think those three could be classified as country. I could be wrong.
