Tim McGraw, Faith Hill Host Flood-Relief Concert

Tim McGraw, Faith HillCountry music power couple, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, are lending their star power to a very worthwhile cause. Responding to the deadly flood in Nashville, Tenn., which resulted in thousands of lost homes and more than $1.5 billion in damage, the husband and wife are teaming up for 'Nashville Rising: A Benefit Concert for Flood Recovery,' set for Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on June 22.

"The damage that we've seen to people's homes and the effect that the flooding has had on their lives is unimaginable," Tim and Faith said in a joint statement. "But we've seen the spirit of our community first hand, as volunteers, church groups and our local business leaders rally to help. We all need to continue to support those in need in anyway that we can, and for that reason we could not be more appreciative to all of the artists, the companies and the people behind the scenes who collectively, will make June 22 a truly special night."

Artists already scheduled to appear alongside Tim and Faith include Jason Aldean, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, LeAnn Rimes, Amy Grant, Lyrnrd Skynyrd, as well as a performance by retiring duo Brooks & Dunn.

Country artists have been extremely giving as Music City recovers and rebuilds. Vince Gill hosted a telethon that raised more than $1.7 million, including a $500,000 donation by Taylor Swift, while Reba McEntire donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross. Darius Rucker is headlining the annual GRAMMY block party on May 11, with the proceeds going to MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief. And pop star Ke$ha announced a special concert on June 16, with all proceeds going to relief efforts.

The Nashville Rising concert will benefit the Community Foundation, which is committed to providing long-term help to flood victims. Tickets, available through Ticketmaster, will go on sale on May 14 at 10:00 AM CST.

Imagine this...no looting either. Tenn. has done an amazing job taking care of themselves. Thank God the country entertainers are going to give them help with the needed donations.
Even here in the deep South the devistation rarely is seen on TV. I do think that once it's really out there donations and help will be generously given.
There is no country in the world and no people in the world that can top the American people in generosity no matter what your state locality is.

I am not much of a country music fan so I am not sure who alot of the performers are - but Tim McGraw's dad was a big presence here in NY and so well loved - I think it's a great thing that there is going to be a larger telethon which might get some media attention for the folks in Nashville. I can't believe that a major American city has had the destruction Nashville and the area have suffered and NO ONE seems to be talking about it. Good Luck to all those in Tennessee - I hope there is some relief coming your way in the days ahead.

Good Lord, what a nasty, ignorant little comment. Your compassion overwhelms me, not to mention your willingness to generalize and name-call. There are good and bad people in the south, just like there are in every other region of the country--not to mention the entire world. As for not doing anything, you've obviously not been watching the news reports. Nashville is already far ahead in recovery of where New Orleans was at this point. Local churches have organized thousands of volunteers who are going into neighborhoods and helping out. They are not sitting around, they are working themselves half-to-death trying to rebuild their city. Tim and Faith are an amazing, generous couple who have created at least 2 charitable organizations (Neighbor's Keeper and the Tug McGraw Foundation) to help people out. Maybe you should go out and help someone instead of sitting in front of your keyboard spewing hatred and misspelling words.
