Why We Dig Her: A gutsy singer who's just 19 years old but wrings a lifetime of emotion out of every tune. Obviously influenced in equal measure by growing up in Texas and California, the soulful Mishavonna Henson first came to the attention of music fans nationwide as a contestant on 'American Idol,' earning the "golden ticket" to Hollywood in both 2007 and 2008. But by the time she'd made an impression on more than 30 million people watching at home -- with her rendition of Train's 'Drops of Jupiter' -- the dark-haired beauty had already been singing and even acting for more than a decade. At six years old, she began appearing on stage and in TV roles, alongside famed actors including Kelsey Grammer and Nathan Lane. With two EPs to her credit, including the appropriately-titled 'Country, Soul and Rock 'n Roll,' Mishavonna's debut album is set to hit stores later this summer.
