Trace Adkins to Receive a Revolutionary Commendation

Trace Adkins will receive the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution's most prestigious award, the DAR Medal of Honor, during a special ceremony in Nashville on June 5.

Nashville's Sarah Polk chapter of the DAR is recognizing Trace for his numerous humanitarian works and patriotism and his outstanding service to his state and nation.

A longtime supporter of the U.S. military, Trace has done two USO tours overseas, performing for troops in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He has also been recognized for his service both to the USO and the Wounded Warrior project.

The former 'Celebrity Apprentice' contestant will have a busy summer this year as he prepares to embark on a tour with Toby Keith and for the release of his first album for Show Dog Universal, 'Cowboy's Back In Town,' on August 24.

It's great to read about someone who does something good for those who have served our country and have brought joy and a piece of home to our men and women over seas. God bless him, he has done a great service.

Growing up I got to know a few of the veterans from WWII and Korea and they often talked about how their stars and singers of the day came and did USO tours and how much it not only boosted their morale, but also made them feel a little less homesick. Whether or not you like Trace Adkin's music or support the war doesn't matter, it's all about showing our soldiers, all across the world, that we, the American people, their brothers in sisters in freedom and liberty, care about them and support them because when you know you are supported, it makes being so far from home a little easier.
