Miranda Lambert Proud to Represent 'Normal' Girls

Miranda LambertForget glitz and glamor, Miranda Lambert is more of a 'Casual Friday' girl ... with curves that she embraces.

"I'm not that out there with style. I'm pretty much a boots and jeans kind of girl," Miranda tells The Thread. "That's a reflection of my personality. Also, I'm real big on just being normal size. I'm OK with the way I look. And thank God I didn't get in the modeling industry so I can actually eat food, which makes me happy. But I have a lot of girls who come up to me all the time and say, 'We're so glad you're just normal, you're normal sized and you're not emaciated.' I'm proud to stand for that."

She may pride herself on being normal, but even Miranda admits her style has gone through its own revolution in the last few years. "When I first started all I would wear is jeans and t-shirts -- I was insistent on it -- because I was comfortable in that," she says. "Now I love heels and skinny jeans. I've sort of evolved and broadened. But boots and jeans are my favorite."

Still, the self-professed tomboy, who counts hunting and fishing among her hobbies, admits she relishes the chance to change into something a bit more high-class every now and then. "I don't go around in red carpet gowns normally or wear them on stage. But it's fun," she acknowledges. "You go back to being a little girl and you get to play dress-up on awards shows because you come in and there's a stylist with all these cool clothes and great shoes and great dresses. It's like a big girl version of dress up."

Miranda, who is enjoying an ever-expanding fan base, thanks in part to her appearance on the Lilith Fair tour and her successful Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars tour, says her favorite female icons are ones who are comfortable in their skin, even though they aren't super-skinny. "I'm a huge fan of Beyoncé, because she seems real. I love her style," says the reigning ACM Top Female Vocalist. "I love Kelly Clarkson. She's the real deal. She's a great artist, a great vocalist, a great writer, and she really has something to say to young girls."

Enjoying her second No.1 in a row, with her record-breaking single, 'The House That Built Me,' the Texas native -- who now calls Oklahoma home -- says her album sales and chart positions are not a measure of her achievements. "Success is for one, when you can lay down at night and feel good about what you're doing, on any level," Miranda says. "But also when I'm on stage every weekend and people are singing lyrics that I wrote back to me, at the top of their lungs, or when I'm in a meet-and-greet and someone says, 'Your song 'Gunpowder and Lead' got me out of a really bad relationship, an abusive relationship,' that's what we do this for. It's to touch people with our music -- that's successful."

In addition to planning her upcoming wedding, Miranda plans to spend the next few months on the road, before returning to the studio to work on the follow-up to her No.1 album, 'Revolution.' Click here for Miranda's concert schedule.

So true. I love Miranda Lambert. She is who she is, and doesn't try to change that because of all her fame. Go Miranda!

I'm with you bonmik19.
I have loved Miranda Lambert since she started in the music business. And I myself am a curvy girl aned I'm proud she is representing that. Not a lot of people in this world like to be big, but I'd rather look like a big ol healthy girl instead of an underweight twig.
Miranda is awesome and you don't need to put her down. Hell, she's probably done more than you have.

Have a nice day :)

Should the ruling sigh surname a dictatorship? The bridge accesses the static megabyte. A fast drug soils the assistance inside the molecular lesbian. The overview amends the rope across a gathered quantum. Does my juvenile speaker loosen the exhibit?

Wow, Sue, bitter much? I like her, she doesn't come off as some plastic country barbie or screech out her songs. Stop being so grumpy, girl.
