Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton Lose a Family Friend

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are mourning the loss of one of their four-legged children. Their puppy Steve was killed in an accident over the weekend, and the two are obviously devastated.

Miranda took to her Twitter page to share her loss and asked her followers to "please send prayers to our family. We lost our puppy Steve yesterday (Saturday) in an accident. He is happy in heaven now." She even tweeted a cute photo of her and Steve, and said, "R.I.P. my sweet angel!" The songbird was very sad by the dog's passing, as was her fiancé, Blake, who actually rescued Steve. He was only able to write, "Worst day for me in a longtime. Rest in peace Steve ..." Many of their famous friends, including Martina McBride and Michelle Branch, have reached out via Twitter as well to give their condolences.

Earlier this year, Miranda told The Boot about Steve, as well as her most recent canine addition, Cher. "I have six dogs now, and they're all rescues," she explained. "And Cher was the last one, and then right before her, we got Steve, which is Blake's dog that he found on his land, and I don't know why his name is Steve ... [probably] because Blake named him, that's why."

I understand your heart ache.

We had a border collie (Buffy) for 17 yrs and I had to have him put to sleep. I was so angry and in such pain that God didn't take him without my intervention and still to this day it makes me so sad but I know he is not in pain.

When I rescued my wonderful kitty, I prayed that God would not make me have to go through that again.

We had our kitty (Kasey) for 21 years and he died in my arms and it still was painful for him to go but at least I didn't have to make that decision.

Now, after 3yrs. I am ready to rescue a new pet.

God bless you.

Pets are a very important part of many families. We had put down our Eskimo earlier this year due to liver failure. Pets give unconditional love , and are far less cruel than humans can be...probably why it is hard when you lose one.

I love my animals for sure, but he does have a point....I remember lots of times when I had a terrible cold and/or caugh....if I started messing around with "the woman at that time" my colds symptoms would virtually disappear until I was "calmed back down"....my sympathys to Miranda !!

Oh yes, a pet (regardless of what type) can do so much more for a human in companionship than another human can. For one thing, they NEVER talk back!! And to lose that companionship suddenly (if its only been a few months or many years) is still hard to deal with with some people. Pets to some are their whole lives, and its very hard NOT to get really attached to them. (Yes, I will say too, some to tend to go over-board a little, but that is of their choice!) Pets are much easier to deal with than people that's for sure! But, I'm not being offensive here, but, do animals go to Heaven? (I really can't see why not, they're as much a part of God's creation as people, possibly more so, since they were here before humans, weren't they?) I'm thinking in getting a gorilla for a pet..I mean, who's in their right mind would cross one?? Of course, I'm kidding. I'll stick with my Arabian horses (six now).

My friend's daughter is a first grader at a private Christian school. Her pet died last year and she told her class about it and ended with, "... but now he's in Heaven" and her teacher told her that animals don't go to Heaven, only the souls of the faithful servants of Jesus do. The little girl was so upset that my friend took her daughter out of that school and put her in another one.
