"Recording in Santa Barbara really had an affect on the new record, because it had been cloudy in Nashville for like two months," Rascal Flatts' lead singer Gary LeVox tells The Boot. "If we're going to cut all ballads and do them here [in Nashville], we're going to have to cut some uptempo stuff and get in some sunshine. [laughs]. We left and went to Santa Barbara and had some new players."
The warmer climate and new musicians weren't the only changes for the trio, either, Gary reveals. "It wasn't a big, full-blown, ritzy studio. It was just a little hole-in-the-wall place. It was great. We really had a great time doing it. The three of us lived in a house together, and we hadn't done that in a long time. And we got to create ... we really came out with a great project. We're pumped!"
'Nothing Like This,' featuring the group's new single 'Why Wait,' arrives in stores November 16. It is the follow-up to last year's platinum-selling 'Unstoppable.'
