Trace Adkins Weighs In on Ground Zero Mosque Debate

Pamela Springsteen

Trace Adkins paid a visit to 'Fox and Friends' in New York Friday morning, August 20, to promote his brand-new CD, 'Cowboy's Back in Town.' But it was a much more serious subject that really stole the spotlight in his interview with Fox hosts Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade and Alisyn Camerota.

Alisyn asked Trace his opinion on a controversy brewing in the Big Apple this week -- a proposed mosque that a religious group wants to build just a few blocks away from Manhattan's Ground Zero, where the World Trade Center stood before the horrific terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

"Look, they've already won because this is a no-win position that we've been put in," said Trace. "I don't know who their PR person is, but they're better than ours because it doesn't matter how we react now, we already lose. If they get to build the mosque, they can run around the rest of the Islamic world and proclaim victory that they tore down an iconic structure and rebuilt a mosque in its place. And if we don't let them do it, then they'll go preach to the Islamic world that we're intolerant. So it's a no-win for us."

Steve pointed out that the wife of the Imam (Muslim prayer leader), Daisy Khan, is insisting they're not going to back down. "She's making it sound like they are the victims -- the people that want to build it down there," said Steve. "A lot of people are saying they're not the victims, when you think about Ground Zero area, there are 2752 other victims that come to mind first."

"I agree," echoed Trace. "It's a brilliant PR move on their part, because they're putting us in a position that either way we go, they'll say they were wronged ... It's a slap in the face. I don't approve of it."

On a much lighter (yet political) note, Brian pointed out to Trace that "there are shirts out that are selling better than the Obama shirts that say: 'Miss me yet?' with George Bush on them ... Are you surprised?"

Trace's quick wit did not fail him. "I bet shirts with your picture on them would sell better than Obama's right now," laughed the country superstar. "I'm just sayin' ... that's how unpopular he is right now."

You do realize that there are muslims who are against building the mosque so close. One muslim man said, "What's the difference between building a mosque there or 5 miles away?" He and his mosque acctually took out a full page spread in a newspaper criticizing a mosque built so close to the 9/11 site. If they were truly understanding they would respect people's wishes and move the site, bt then again if that happens they will claim they were victimized. wow....selfish bastards.

What people dont realize is that the islamic religion has a long history, as far back as ancient Jerusalem, of building mosques on or near "sites of conquest". This is a symbol of "islamic triumph", and a slap in the face of us and 3000 dead.

I agree with Trace 100%. He is right, we're surrounded on all sides in a no win situation. By destroying the Twin Towers, a part of the Pentagon, and killing innocent people on an airplane on September 11th, members of the Islamic religion made the point they'll die for "their" Allah, and kill completely innocent people for their "Allah", and destroy expensive, meaningful U.S. property for their "Allah". To them, doing so then crowning the area for their "Allah" is building a monument to their "Allah" to prove they've "won" one for their "Allah" by hurting the infidels (supposedly eveyone who is non-Islam). In their culture, building this mosque is akin to the statue won by an actor at the Oscars. On the other hand, if we don't allow it...they will whine, and complain with indignation stating THIS is exactly WHY we are infidels! But....who cares what they think, really? I don't care if they call me an infidel. I just do NOT want a monument to Islam built where members of that faith destroyed so much within our Nation.

I agree with Trace. It is a no-win situation, because the news media won't let it go either. Like most storie that make the news once -- they wear them out and link them to things that had nothing to do with each other.

Trace is right on! It's a no win situation for us alright. I'm so tired of all of this political correctness. It's ruining our once great nation.

WOW, nobody is tearing down an iconic structure. The mosque and COMMUNITY CENTER are in an old Burlington Coat Factory store...people need facts before they form opinions.

Guess I'm not buying any of Trace Adkins' music any time soon. He--and many other people--need to stop watching Fox "News" and go read and research topics like this for themselves.

I agree with Trace. Many of us are fed up with the Obama misinformation. FOX (and now many other news media) are finally beginning to identify the inconsistencies of what Obama says. Will the economy get better - yes, but no thanks to Obama. Yet he plays it up as the problem was bigger than expected - remember he promised a big stimulus would keep unemployment below 9%. 18 months later we still have a problem - it is his. As I tell my kids - take responsibility for your actions. Obama and the Dems rewarded their cronies (unions, ACORN and others) while sailing the rest of us down the river. Thanks for nothing. REMEMBER THE DEMS TOOK OVER CONGRESS ALMOST 4 YEARS AGO AND PROMISED FINANCIAL IMPROVEMENTS THEN. Unfortunately Bush and the Repubs didn't stay true to their ways and went along with the spending spree. Six years of Bush were good - only the last 2 years were a failure and the Dems and Repubs were to blame. Obama - grow up and take responsibility.
