Viewers likely recall that 17-year old Aaron -- the youngest 'American Idol' finalist -- was eliminated after singing 'Fly Me to the Moon,' made famous by Frank Sinatra (which 'Ol' Blue Eyes' later sang as a duet with country icon George Strait). 'Idol' judge Simon Cowell advised Aaron to pursue a career in country music. Apparently, he has taken Simon's advice.
"After the tour, I'm moving to Nashville." Aaron says in a Blogcritics interview published by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "I'm working with Nathan Chapman and Stephanie Chapman, who are Taylor Swift's producers. I think that's a good direction in type of album and songs for me. I've been doing a lot of songwriting. Taylor Swift started in country music at 17 years old, and a lot of people have called me 'the male Taylor Swift,' so that's not a bad thing. It's a good direction for me to go in, because I would love to have the same career she has."
After his elimination, Aaron -- who also prides himself on his songwriting -- told news media that he grew up listening to country music and is comfortable with the format. He said he is especially inspired by Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban because they have "great, honest music."
Aaron adds that he has been writing so he can "be 100 percent prepared" to show music executives he can be a country idol.
