Lady Antebellum Score Five American Music Award Nods

AOL Music

Lady Antebellum may not have much musically in common with Eminem, but the country trio share the distinction of having tied with the rapper for the most 2010 American Music Award nominations. Both acts garnered five mentions, with 16-year-old pop phenom Justin Bieber scoring four nods, as nominees were revealed today (October 12) in Los Angeles.

Lady A's nominations are for Favorite Band, Duo or Group in the Pop/Rock and Country categories, Favorite Country Album ('Need You Now'), Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist. Taylor Swift, who took home five American Music Awards last year, scored just one mention this year in the Favorite Female Country Artist category. She'll compete against Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert in that race, while Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Brad Paisley are all up for Favorite Male Country Artist. In the Favorite Country Album category, the nominees joining Lady A are Jason Aldean's 'Wide Open' and Carrie Underwood's 'Play On.'

Lady A will go up against Train and the Black Eyed Peas in the pop/rock band category, while their competition in the country field will be Zac Brown Band and Rascal Flatts.

Nominees for the American Music Awards are determined by radio airplay, retail sales, activity on social networks and video viewing. According to organizers, winners will be determined by members of the public through online voting.

The American Music Awards will air live on ABC, Sunday, November 21 at 8:00 PM (ET). Click here for more information about all the nominees.
