Since its inception, Operation Troop Aid has sent more than $1 million in care packages and products to U.S. troops oversees with help of numerous singers and entertainment initiatives.

Known for his generous spirit, Charlie is also holding the 2010 Charlie Daniels Band & Friends Concert to benefit for Christmas 4 Kids November 22 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. Montgomery Gentry, Jake Owen and Sawyer Brown are also on the bill. Proceeds from the concert and other Christmas 4 Kids events will provide more than 400 children from 29 different schools a very special holiday shopping spree.
"Christmas 4 Kids holds a special place in my heart," Charlie told The Boot. "In this land of plenty, no child should be sad at Christmas time. Christmas 4 Kids does its part to keep that from happening."
Also on Charlie's itinerary this week, the T.J. Martell Foundation will present the legend with its Lifetime Entertainment Achievement Award at a ceremony in New York October 27.
