The singing siblings' self-titled album was released in October and they recently joined superstar Alan Jackson as his opening act. The Boot talked to the trio prior to their hitting the stage with Alan for their first-ever arena performance. Naturally, the subject of another recent first came up -- hearing their first single on the radio for the first time.
"The three of us were in the same car," says Kimberly. "We had just actually flown into San Francisco, and it was 'Hip to My Heart.' It was funny because we were in transit to our hotel from the airport, and the radio was turned down low, and all of a sudden we heard the opening hook of the song. We all just sort of got really, really excited, rolled the windows down and cranked it up."
"We screamed like little girls," says Reid with a laugh. "It was kind of embarrassing."
"Ever since we started playing music, we've always waited for that moment, and it finally came," adds Neil. "It was such an exciting moment for us. I don't think we'll ever get over hearing our song on the radio. Every time it happens [now], we're just as excited as the first time!"
"It was January 2 of this year," recalls Kimberly. "Now we've heard it a dozen times on the air, and every single time, it's just like the first."
"It was almost like we didn't even really register that it was playing until well into the first verse," Reid says of the memorable moment. "Then we all kind of sat there silently, then we were squealing. Our hearts were pumping, and the same thing happened when we heard 'If I Die Young' for the first time."
