Alan is an obvious choice for the first-ever recipient of the honor, having just released his '34 Number Ones,' which contains all of his chart-topping hits to date, in addition to his collaboration with the Zac Brown Band, 'As She's Walking Away,' and a cover of Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire.' Not to mention, he's sold more than 50 million records during his 20-year career.
Alan also has been added to the list of ACA performers, which includes previously-announced singers Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, Toby Keith, Josh Turner, Easton Corbin, Steel Magnolia, Uncle Kracker and the show's host, Trace Adkins.
Lady Antebellum, Jewel and husband/rodeo star Ty Murray, Laura Bell Bundy, comedians Rodney Carrington and Jeff Dunham, rocker Bret Michaels and NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip are listed among the show's presenters.
The ACAs is being billed as the "only country music awards show that gives fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite artists not only in traditional categories, but also in unrecognized areas of the business such as touring, encompassing the entire spectrum of country music and bestowing honors that no other awards show has."
You can vote for your ACA Artist of the Year pick until December 4 here. A full list of nominees may be found here.
The first-ever American Country Awards air live from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena December 6 on FOX at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
