The facility, formerly known as St. Vincent Children's Hospital, was rechristened Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at St. Vincent's in 2007, after Peyton and his wife donated an undisclosed monetary gift. It is an honor -- and a responsibility -- the Super Bowl champ is happy to uphold.
"In the NFL, the name on the back of the jersey is emblematic of a player's commitment to contribute any way he can to the success of that team," Peyton stated at the renaming ceremony. "For me, having the name on the front of this building carries with it much the same -- a weighty responsibility to contribute to the many victories ahead here at St. Vincent."
Kenny's performance at Peyton's fundraiser could be seen as the country superstar's way of paying back his famous football pal for his participation in Kenny's 'Boys of Fall' DVD earlier this year. Peyton, along with Brett Favre, Sean Payton and John Madden, were interviewed by Kenny for the project, which was created as a way to encourage young athletes both on and off the field. Kenny also donated 10,000 copies of the DVD to high schools and football coaches.
Kenny will play the first show on his Goin' Coastal tour just two weeks after his appearance with Peyton. The tour, which includes co-headlining act -- and recent four-time Grammy nominees -- the Zac Brown Band, features Billy Currington and Uncle Kracker as opening acts. See tour dates here.
