Keith will kick off the Australian leg of his tour on April 8 in Adelaide, before jetting to Tamworth, Sydney and Brisbane to wrap up that part of the tour on April 15. Lady Antebellum is slated to appear with the New Zealand-born (and Aussie-raised) singer for all of the Australian dates.
Keith says his new album, 'Get Closer,' is symbolic of where he is in his personal life, including his marriage to Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, which makes him that much more eager to share new music with his millions of fans all across the globe.
"I think deep down all of us want to make the most out of this life and experience as much as we can and love as much as we can," he tells The Boot. "It's my willingness to keep moving forward and really get closer, which is what the album is about. It's also to sort of say, 'Have we fallen into a rut as a couple? Have we stagnated? Are we just sort of living together and co-habitating, or are we really working on getting closer to each other? No matter how long we've been together, are we still trying to get to know one another and get closer and let the other one in?' And that's a never-ending process too. So, the title really is about all of those things."
Keith's latest single, 'Put You In a Song,' which he wrote with Jedd Hughes and Sarah Buxton, is at No.12 on the charts. Keith notes that the first single from his new album is one of his personal favorites. "I always like songs that are about the unattainable girl," he tells The Boot. "This guy would never get this girl's attention in a million years, but he realizes that if he writes a song about her, he could have her in the car all day long and even get to drive her home at night. The concept of her being a song that he would have in his possession was intriguing to me."
Keith, already a three-time Grammy winner, is nominated for another trophy for Best Male Country Performance, alongside Jamey Johnson, Toby Keith, David Nail and Chris Young. In addition to visiting Australia, the singer-songwriter will play nine dates in Canada in September. See dates for the North American leg of his tour, which kicks off June 16 in Mobile, Ala. here.
