Court Yard Hounds Question Toby Keith's 'Bullets in the Gun'

Big REK fan here. Have all his albums. Not exactly a TK fan but I like a few of his songs. So I buy REK's new album and was quite disappointed after a dozen listens. A bunch of forgettable tunes (I guess he's done writing songs like Mariano) but the one that caught me was The Road Goes on and on because it's a childish rant and unlike REK. I look up what he was whining about and find out that he thinks TK ripped him off on Bullets which I heard a few times and generally turned off before long.

REK, really? Really? Dude, don't get upset if you take a WELL-WORN ROAD and someone follows you down it.

BTW, Howard Dean called. He wants his aimless rant back.

The songs sound nothing alike! Big mouths always looking for something!

This debate has nothing to do with Ms. Robison or her political views. It is about Toby Keith plagiarizing Robert Earl Keen's song, Stop blaming the messenger.

In the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition, where Keith speaks about his influences, he doesn't even mention Keen Yet Keith has undoubtedly heard the iconic Keen number which leads me to believe the similarities between Bullets in the Gun and Road Goes On Forever are more willful than coincidence. People have been successfully sued for less obvious plagiarism, fortunately for Keith, Keen says "I don't really believe in lawsuits or threats... yes the songs are similar but in my personal opinion what Toby Keith did to change it if he did take it was much better than the original and what's to say that he stole it. a lot of the time people get the same idea as someone else and not realize until after

toby is totally awesome. those old hens need to go somewhere. lots of songs sound the same he has more fans and is a great performer. most cowboys wear jeans and boots ,and hats . sometimes i wish he was a litte neater with that dew rag he wears under his hat BUT I LOVE HIM AND HIS MUSIC AND PERFORMANCES. HE PUTS ON ONE HELL OF A SHOW. HE IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED

I love Toby's songs and the man always gets ripped off for awards. He has many many great songs and I would chose him over some of the newer ones. I want to personally TY Toby for supporting our troops and entertaining them for so many have no one. You go Toby, U made me feel better listening to ur songs while I went through Chemo and Radation. Keep the good work up.

To cfarnold72 and delinsk: Why does everything have to turn into a political attack? We are talking about music here and you feel the need to go on the attack re politics. Let's just enjoy the music. 2 different artists with 2 different stories about the same subject. Both good songs. Let's just enjoy them and quit attacking each other!

Give me a break, they are using this jab at Toby Keith to get press... bottom line. They acheived their goal. You can believe what you want. They may not be as vocal as Natalie, and I do agree they are talented, but why did they sign off ranting about Toby and not use that last minute to highlight their music? They are hoping to use the old feud to sell their cd instead of their talent. I find that sad.

There are many influences in this song as there are in most songs. There is very little that is 100% orignial... Even the Chicks/Hounds music draws from other influences.
