Jack White to Produce Jerry Lee Lewis Live Album

Jack White will produce an upcoming live album by rock 'n' roll pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis. The concert will take place on Record Store Day, April 16, at White's Third Man Records compound in Nashville.

According to the label, White will man the boards for the show, which will be recorded direct to analogue. The finished product will be pressed and packaged locally and made available to fans within weeks of the gig.

For the concert, Lewis -- who is responsible for Sun Records classics like 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On' and 'Great Balls of Fire' -- will be backed by a multi-generational band. Booker T and the MGs guitarist Steve Cropper, Raconteurs/Dead Weather bassist Jack Lawrence and Bob Dylan/Neil Young session man Jim Keltner will assist 'The Killer' for the show.


Lewis released a star-studded album, 'Mean Old Man' last fall. The project, which was produced by Keltner, featured collaborations with everyone from Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger to John Fogerty and Slash.

This isn't the first time for White to produce a living legend. He, of course, was at the helm for Loretta Lynn's 'Van Lear Rose,' which won a Grammy for Best Country Album in 2005.

Tickets for the Jerry Lee Lewis show are now on sale for $30. There's no word yet on an album title or planned set at this point.

jerry lee is my favorite i have all his music,but the last album was a disappointment. he still sings good maybe even better ,but there was hardly any paino playing on it,.and there was not one song that started with that paino boogie.jerry lee fans do not want to hear the man with balls of steel sing this greatful dead crap.we still know good music from bad and so does he,but i guess it's about the money.someone is telling him to do this crapy music and the younger generation will like him (but they want.)keep playing that boogie and dranking and cheating songs and your true fans will keep buying it.i wish i could buy a new cd every week but not of this trashy music you been trying.virgil jones. decatur,al
