"Almost 10 years [after 9/11], it is still so painful for all Americans, especially those who lost loved ones ... We were all affected by the tragedies of 9/11 and continue to keep the families who lost loved ones close to our hearts."
Beyoncé previously performed the tune at the inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2008, but never released a studio version until now. She sang the song on CNN's 'Piers Morgan Tonight' last week, and has released her version on iTunes.
Lee Greenwood, who wrote the tune, is donating his proceeds to the charity as well.
This is not Beyoncé's first foray into country music. Reba McEntire released a cover version of the former Destiny Child singer's hit, 'If I Were a Boy' earlier this year.
